Dean isn't sure if he should be surprised that someone got the drop on him or embarrassed that it was a girl. Hands raised above his head, eyes riveted forward out the windshield, he tries to reason with the stranger in the backseat of his car.
“Look, we can talk about this…whatever it is that is bothering you…”
The gun pressed to his temple clicks and he flinches. The girl, no more than 19 or 20, leans towards him threateningly from behind.
“I want to know exactly what it is you do and why the hell you’re meddling with my family.”
Dean takes a deep breath. It’s been only a week since this girl’s family got attacked by a wendigo on their hunting trip, causing her younger brother to become catatonic.
“Look, Lilly—it’s Lilly, right?”
There’s a pause and he thinks he may have to use force; really, he could disarm her easily but he doesn’t want to hurt her. He wonders why he left Sam at the hotel. Sam could easily talk her down, but Dean’s never been very good with words.
Dean nods, turns some so he can see her. “Good, ok, umm. Lily, I work in a very special type of job. I uhh, I handle certain cases that normal people…can’t.”
She doesn’t look impressed.
“Hhh, you ever hear any really good ghost stories? Ya know, the type of stories that sound real?”
Lily slowly removes the gun, mere inches from Dean’s nose, to rest on the seat beside her. Yeah, she knows about ghost stories. She knows how vengeful ghosts can get; she wasn’t that smart when she was 13 and had decided to investigate a haunted asylum with her friends during a full moon. Let’s just say she never doubted the paranormal again, not after nearly being strangled in midair by an apparition no one could see… She was lucky to have escaped with just some bruises and nightmares; some of her friends weren’t so lucky. She nods for him to continue.
“Well, I… That is, my brother and I, we…hunt stuff like that…”
Lily stares at the gun in her hand. “You think something like a ghost is, what, possessing my brother? What attacked my family?”
“Uhh, no, no, I believe your family got attacked by a wendigo and your brother wasn’t able to…handle the stress from the experience…”
Lily looks up sharply, determination sparking in her eyes. “Great; how do we kill it?”
Is this ok?? I typed it up a lil quick, it could probably be better…. :3
