Absolutely floored by the subtle thing in broadchurch where the lawyers both have last names that are pieces on a chess board and the characters have personalities reflecting the pieces’ moves and roles

They don't see things the same way that you do,
All numbers and possibilities, and little notes to the side.
The restricted worldview they hold is insulting,
Telling you what you should and shouldn't feel or be.
Your perspective is revolving, moving, a switch that goes to and fore.
The micro cracks and splits in their facade, the slow evolving,
They break down, placing too much on what is right and wrong.
The walls collapse and they don't understand what it means to be free.
They'd call you a monster for how uninvolved you are,
Emotionless and apathetic, you love to watch the dice scatter, unaffected.
The game of life goes and goes and you follow,
You see the odds and ends, the chances and likelihoods;
You love the danger as you watch the pawns fly across the board.
They see you as the fault, the crack in human nature,
You find them lacking what you need to keep everything interesting.
Their choices and assessments are becoming far too predictable,
They put faith in morals and justice, while you just want them to burn.
You may not think of yourself as the God many look up to,
But the power of Life and Death is what keeps you on your toes.
You see the shakiness in their smiles, the fractures in their eyes,
You find joy in the way they shatter when their strings are unraveled.
You are the odd in the many of evens, the outlier of the system,
They'd lock you away, pick your brain until it is theirs for the taking.
As much as you'd enjoy their attentions, you'd grow bored of their inadequacies.
You feel a smile tug your face into place knowing you're not just the King,
You are the absolute Checkmate.
Ugh! Victoria!
Can’t tell if she did that out of detrimental paranoia or as a final, calculated sacrifice of her Queen to expose Emily’s King.
===> Bring your frustrations out along the strings
Your emotions are conflicted. In one instance, you couldn't care less about Scratch.
In the other, you are perturbed that this human thinks he can just up and walk away with him.
This human has placed you in Check.
You fear for a Checkmate.
