Under the six

It’s another busy day at the Saturday Marché Vincent-Auriol under Line six of the Paris Metro, near Chevaleret. Like so many ‘farmers markets’ in France, there’s a mixture of foods as well as clothes and other items. It’s not an antique market, but rather a lively local market in the 13 arrondissement of the city that starts early in the morning and ends a little while after lunch.

The numerous markets around the city are a good place to get a feel for the neighbourhood and its diversity. Like so many markets around the world, they tend to get a little noisy as stall owners of perishables start to shout out their cheaper prices. Walking from one end to the other you’ll hear, not only French being spoken, but all kinds of other languages too.
