Chewbella Bean update: Bella had her xrays and it was determined that she has arthritis in her hips and knees and she may have cruciate disease. The leaps out of the car in October really exacerbated her condition and is making her uncomfortable without meds. With medication she seems much more comfortable, but still isn't able to walk more than a couple of blocks before needing to sit and rest for a while. The vet thinks she is medically managed at this point, and we will see about adding an nsaid to her routine once her Cushings test is done and we see where her liver is at that point. in the meantime we got her the coolest wagon on offerup. it has fold down sides and back so she can just hop in when tired. She totally had the idea down today on her second use. I think she knew why we were bringing it with us, and at one point ask to be let in. so more to come after her tests!

I think I'm going to put up longer videos for watching. No tutorials or anything, just the longer painting videos with some kind of soothing music. Or perhaps nature sounds, or maybe some kind of reading. Maybe it can be meditative. Anyhow, for those listening out there, I thought this could be fun and frankly something to get me out of my funk.

Happy Tuesday All. Sharing happy sunflowers and an update on Bella as promised.

I hope this fall is treating you well. I was going through the very little I painted over the end of summer/beginning of fall and came across these guys. Sunflowers are so happy and I thought maybe we all could use a little happy, sunny flowers to brighten the day.

On to Bella updates! She was rechecked at the vet yesterday and determined she was doing Much Much better, but there is still lameness (which we can see in the stiffness of her back legs). The Doc was NOT convinced she blew her ACL as there was no play in Bella's knee joints. However, her hips and kees did seem tender. We are doing x-rays in a few days to help us determine what's going on for sure. Her doc believes she injured already arthritic joints, and will be adding a new medicine to her Gabapentin to help ease any pain and inflammation she may be having to keep her comfortable. We can start adding activities slowly as she handles them. This unfortunately may be something she never fully recovers from - which is devastating news. The vet feels confident we can help her get to 15 though, so we will move forward as positive and pro Bella as we can.

Going forward, we'll be rechecking her liver often, starting in a month, and proceeding with the testing for the Cushings disease so she can be treated for that as well. If positive, She can be medicated to help with her weight. Something which we constantly struggle with, though she has lost some weight over the past few weeks. So now we wait for x-rays and more tests.

And yes, she actually watches TV. Including animal free TV, but lately she's been hung up on Sonic the Hedgehog and the Miraculous Ladybug series. unfortunately, she's been watching a LOT of TV while on bed rest. I have been wondering if TV can rot a dogs brain like it does to us humans?
