This is gonna be a lot of rambling about the Beasts and the Virtues/Soul Jams. A lot of this is probably going to be conjecture so take it with a pile of salt.
Honestly, if I were the Beasts... I'd be upset and vengeful like Shadow Milk, too. Not forgiving their actions in any way, but considering how they fell to darkness "one by one" as Elder Faerie said, it sounds like they convinced each other to turn away from their virtues. The corruption started with one and spread to the rest of them. Friends in an echo chamber, one could say.
And that's not even taking into account what caused the first one to turn in the first place. One would assume it's just due to their "absolute power" as Elder Faerie stated... But you'd think that if one were to start falling, the rest would do their damnedest to help the one from going beyond a point of return? Whatever "corruption" must have felt in some way justified, or there must have been a sense of losing care for anything other than themselves or each other. HELL, only two of the corrupted virtues are even active, meaning those two likely caused the rest to become what they are. Apathy, Sloth, and Silence are all signs of doing nothing while Deceit and Destruction are the two that would be considered "active". It could have been betrayal from within that sparked the others to become what they are. (Though that may not entirely be the case, as they could have rather been acting to defend one another to the extent of using their virtues improperly.)
And once they were sealed away, whatever good they had left was stripped of them. From this, they cannot be redeemed. They are stuck as the Beasts they became and cannot go back. The Soul Jams are their innocence, torn away from them for their crimes. The strength that the Ancients have with their Soul Jams is seen as Stolen from those who believe they deserve it- at least in SM's case.
Speaking of the jester, find it interesting that Shadow Milk still believes he holds the whole dominion over Knowledge despite having a portion of Truth taken away from him- which he does happen to use against the cast. Despite having the Light of Truth taken from him, he's still able to act with truth so long as it's supposedly ill-intentioned like the quiz questions or bringing distress in Pure Vanilla (or, perhaps, it's for the positive intention of helping his friends and himself). And yet, Pure Vanilla is fully capable of deceit for what he perceives as what would be better for HIS friends and himself. It's almost as if you can't truly separate them and one will always exist within the other. They are BOTH capable of using their virtues improperly so long as it aligns with what would be THEIR good.
