@chibiisms liked this for a starter
the grandmother didn’t want to go to florida. and now they are in tokyo, and this is a terrible waste of hiro’s winter break. around him, the sea of people rushes on, uncaring that its waves have separated a self-appointed tour-guide (idiot tourist) from his nan. hiro hears florida is nice this time of year, and that it’s actually got decent weather and has nice restaurants tucked far away from any sort of crowd if you know how to look for them.
(he doesn’t, but this just blows. tokyo is bad luck all year round. this sort of thing would never happen elsewhere.)
for lack of a better alternative, he calls her number again. hiro is 100% certain that nan’s cellphone is dead, but, desperate times call for repeated measures. still, he huffs at the beeping noise his phone makes when he gets sent to voicemail again. maybe he needs a change of pace. hiro steels himself and turns to the nearest person.
✘✘✘ excuse me, have you seen a woman in a pink shirt in her 70s, about your height?
