I really, really like it a lot! I've been reading reactions on ffa and I can understand where criticisms come from, as well as some of the earlier discussion I had was totally reasonable in the frustration/criticism! One thing I saw was about how it thinks it's smarter/darker than it actually is, which surprised me, because I'm usually hypersensitive to that kind of thing, it has turned me off SO MANY SHOWS, but I never got that sense from ZnT, I don't think it's trying to be terribly dark or brilliant. It seems like it's trying to tell a fairly low-key story, despite that it's about terrorism and bombs being detonated and an OTT "chess" game.
I'm having a tough time explaining why I do like it, though, but I definitely have a lot of intrigue over it! I want to know what's the deal with Five and Nine and Twelve! I want to know what Nine and Twelve's bigger purpose is! I actually really like what I hope the show is doing with Lisa! The animation and the music are lovely.
It's not reinventing the genre, it's not going to be super unpredictable or anything like that. It's just a solid, interesting story that I am honestly enjoying and has a lot of potential and nicely done elements along the way.
(at some point I am going to spill for so many feelings on Lisa, which is surprising, because she's not a huge part of the story, but somehow I wound up with ~*feelings*~ about her!)
