One of my favorite True Facts about Riverdale is that Betty has a fake gay serial killer brother, not to be confused with Betty's real brother who is in fact also gay and a serial killer (and is married to the fake one).

It must be really hard for those two brothers in the summer i turned pretty to be going after the same girl but imagine you’re dating a boy and your mom starts dating his dad but it’s not the first time your mom and his dad had a fling— they had one in high school that resulted in a son. so you share a half brother with your boyfriend and also that half brother used to be an fbi agent but is now a serial killer that married a different serial killer that was puppeteered by your cousins homophobic (and gay) mother and he pretended to be your half brother for a while and lived in your house. As always betty cooper’s life is harder

what's your favorite obscure archie element/character reference riverdale did? mine was pepper smith from she's josie being a main character on katy keene.

Gonna be super biased and say Betty’s backstory with Caramel + all the diaries she keeps. It’s such a funny way to take familiar comic lore and make it Edgy™️ the way Riverdale so often does

And of course them adapting the storyline where Archie fights a bear by having him (barely) (haha bear-ly) survive a bear attack

Wait actually does Chic count??? He’s pretty obscure. I take all of that back the way they adapted Betty’s brother(s) is easily in my top 5 favorite Riverdale plot lines. That was peak Riverdale absurdity

i unpacked this with my riverirls on the way to dinner tonight. quickly quickly so so SO quickly eliminated all riverdads and the mains (jughead, archie, kevin, reggie. julian if you're frisky). eventually we were left with this selection of not particularly toxically masculine guys to select from:

at which point we gave up and waxed poetic about gargoyle king era chic for a while. so i think final answer is a toss-up between chic and fangs.
