Chapter One

Warnings: Strong Language
Seàn turned the hallway lights off and went into his bedroom only to grab a jacket, put some pillows under the blanket, and leave again.
He tip-toed down the stairs and towards the back, patio doors. He didn't know the code to disarm the security system so he couldn't use the front door.
As he snuck through the living room, he noticed that there was light coming from underneath the basement door.
Mark was down there.
Seàn quickened his pace and opened the unlocked patio doors. Why Mark had left them unlocked Seàn wasn't sure of, but he had left the window to the guest bedroom which he occupied open a crack just in case Mark locked the doors while he was gone.
He carefully and quietly slipped through the door and closed it again, just as the door to the basement opened and Mark emerged.
Seàn dove behind the barbeque and crouched there until Mark wandered off towards his bedroom.
Seàn left the safely of his hiding spot and jogged to the edge of the yard where he launched himself up over the fence and continued on down the sidewalk. He was lucky that Mark lived at the edge of the suburbs because right near his house was the Moody Wildlife Reserve. The perfect place for Seàn to go and safely spend the night.
He took a deep breath as he walked, letting the cool night air fill his lungs, refreshing him and bringing his senses to life. It was mostly dark and the remaining light from the sun shone a deep indigo at the bottom of the sky. Soft shadow encompassed everything that wasn't under the warmth of the streetlights and his shoes scraped tiny pebbles across the smooth concrete and created little crunching noises. The few people that passed by him only nodded in greeting.
Leaving the silent night to speak for them.
After a short period of walking, Seàn came up to the reserve. With a running start, he managed to get over the six and a half foot fence, parkour style. Once inside, he walked as far into the dark woods as he could until his watch began beeping, letting him know that it was almost 10 pm.
"About that time again…" he muttered to himself.
He began taking his clothes off and folding them. He stacked them neatly and put them underneath a small bush with his watch and phone.
Then, Seàn sat down in the grass, and waited.
It didn't take long before an all too familiar feeling began to well up in his chest.
"Alrighty, Seàn, time to brace yourself…" the Irishman told himself.
He began to take deep breaths and he pinched his eyes shut.
Then, the feeling that had welled up and filled his chest, zeroed in on his heart before bursting into an agonizing wave of pain that shot through his entire body, knocking him onto his back and causing him to scream.
What ensued was 10 gut-wrenching minutes of Seàn's body rearranging itself and him struggling not to scream too loudly. His muscles stretching and growing, his bones moving and cracking. He squirmed on the ground and tried to catch his breath as pain wreaked havoc on his transforming body.
Finally, his body stopped changing and settled into its new form, leaving Seàn nothing but a sweating, panting heap of fur on the ground. He lay there for a few moments before his stomach heaved and blood gushed from his mouth, splashing onto the ground. He gagged for a moment and finally it was done.
He was then able to pull himself up off of the ground and immediately his stomach growled. He began to wander around, in search of food.
Soon, he caught the scent of a young deer and he began to follow it. His animal instincts kicked in as he approached the doe, dropping to a low crouch and stalking it until he was close enough to pounce.
He leapt for the unsuspecting creature, landing on top of it and quickly ripping its throat out before it had a chance to realize what was happening.
He tasted its sweet blood on his tongue and immediately began to tear into its flesh, relishing in every flavour, every snap of its bones until there was nothing but a broken, bloodied skeleton left.
He padded back to where he had left his things and fell asleep on the ground there. Awoken by the agonizing pain brought on by his transformation back to human form at 5 am. It finished with Seàn vomiting blood again, and so when he had caught his breath he put his clothes back on and headed back to Mark's house.

When Seàn arrived back at Mark's place he wasn't sure if Mark was already awake or not so he climbed up to the window to the guest bedroom using the thankfully sturdy vines that snaked up the side of the house. He made it up easily and decided that he'd sleep for a few hours before going downstairs to greet the day.
