C H I C E P T I O N v III ----- In creating for catharsis, I was able to portray a fantasy where reality was put on hold - thus offering up a mental break from life's everyday demands. As truths are set aside temporarily, so are the stifling thoughts, egos, and fears associated. Many people live to deceive themselves through fabricated beliefs that one must receive validation on a daily basis - to get the most engagement, to hear false praises on superficial levels, to fit in with what society/media dictates. Inception is beginning to realize that those realities are inaccurate - instead, one should acknowledge that expressing gratitude and accepting one's true self are of the utmost importance. These particular night takes were definitely the most challenging out of the entire collection due to my (naturally shaky) hands having to hold the prism as steady as possible during the long exposures. C H I C E P T I O N v I ----- Stoked to finally showcase my latest collection, CHICEPTION. In addition to the obvious influence from the movie, Inception, I also wanted to pay homage to @19tones and his #prismagraphy work. Yes, prisms have already been used a lot, but my goal with these was to derive new creative prism applications by not only bouncing fractals onto a person/scene (as its prevalent usage in portraits), but also incorporating entire reflections specifically in urban/cityscape settings...in this case, my hometown of Chicago. Every shot featured in the collection are single takes edited only in Lightroom and with no use of Photoshop.
