Cream Chicklette by Jellycat
Tis very much not the season, but today’s fic rec offering is fast forwarding us to Christmas time, with a coffee shop Shrunkyclunks AU. Featuring bad-ass baker with a heart of gold and an arm of metal! Bucky and a Steve in much need of love and baked goods.

Summary:
Steve's finally figured this whole Captain America thing out: He's got a place in Brooklyn, a couple of good friends, and a mild crush on the hot barista at his favorite coffee shop. So what if he never talks to the guy. It's not like he's actually lonely, right? Right.
A short fic taking place from Nov. 30 - Dec. 25th, featuring an advent calendar, veteran!baker!Bucky Barnes, my attempt at fluff and gratuitous amounts of baked goods.
I just started reading this last night and OMG, OMG, OMG, it is soooooo cute and adorable. Steve is adorable, Bucky is adorable, just the whole setting and story is adorable and it’s perfect for this time of year.
I am very late reading this, it’s been writing and published in 2017 but I don’t care because it’s a good story and it’s warming my heart and soul. @chicklette Thank you so much for writing this and sharing it with us all.
I’ve also marked Songbird to read later because that summary is just to die for :D

“Here we go, attempt no. 587 (or so) at not biting my nails. I’ve gone...”
Hard Candy? Chewing gum? Will that work?
Hey, thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately those are both (many times over) tried and failed. I end up over-doing it on the candy (suck-suck chew--oh I need another) and there’s no gum that keeps its flavor long enough to be helpful.
My biggest challenges all start when they get to a certain length once I let them grow -- just enough to see the nail tip -- because I start fussing with them.
Too dirty, even the slightest possibility of something between my finger and nail and I obsess about cleaning them, they break, and I bite them off.
The’re thin, they bend or tear, bite them off to fix the problem.
Or just “hey they grew - look enough to bite off in one go”
Of course there’s always the ‘watching something on the tv and it’s getting intense (or boring)’ problem too.
I guess my best option will be to carry a file and to constantly coat them with the stinky stuff (a bamboo strength/growth formula from Sally Hansen [I think]).

What is your total word count on AO3?
780,617. Huh.
How often do you write?
Generally only on the weekends (or public holidays/actual holidays). It’s rare that I’ve the energy or emotional wherewithal to do any writing after work. I do often work out problems/plots/ideas while walking to and from the train, though, and a worrisome number of new fic ideas have been born on my commute.
Do you have a routine for writing?
Sort of. I need some kind of background noise, what it is depends on what I’m writing. Usually it can be a tv show on really low, so it’s barely audible, but for heavy emotional stuff or fight scenes I need music. Fight scenes need music with a beat - SO much easier to choreograph them! Otherwise, I just sit at my computer and write. I try not to edit anything until the story’s done.
What’s your favorite kinks/tropes/pairing?
Tropes: magical au, magical realism, bed sharing, touch issues, touch starved,
Pairings: Steve/Bucky, yup. I’m not adverse to Nat/Clint and, honestly, Clint/Coulson is a’okay with me as are the canon MCU ships. Brotps, I adore Steve&Nat. I generally don’t read Steve or Bucky with anyone else, with a very few exceptions.
Kinks: Don’t got none, sorry.
Do you have a favorite fic of yours?
It’s a toss up between Balance and The Necrofloranomicon.
Your fic with the most kudos?
If Wishing Made it So, bless it. (I must get started on the next one...)
Anything you don’t like about your writing?
I often get accused of overthinking things (and it’s true) but I feel like this is a complex question. Are there things I’d like to improve in my writing? Are there areas that need work? Absolutely. Among other things: I get lazy, I use repetitive turns of phrase or methods of description, I’d like to go deeper into things, I get frustrated and say fuck it, good enough, I use repetitive turns of phrase, but that’s different from I don’t like it. And, you know, maybe this will make me sound arrogant or egotistical or whatever, but I don’t not like my own writing. I like my stories, every bit of them, problems and all. I re-read my own fics. They make me happy. I wrote them to scratch my own itch, so to speak, and sometimes they’re my go to happy place better than anything else. So, yeah. Just because I recognise something’s flawed doesn’t mean I don’t like it.
Now something you do like?
Something I really like is that I go all in, ride or die, utterly no shame on the fluff.
Tagging, uh, @galwednesday, @brendaonao3, @thelittleblackfox, @drowningbydegrees, @rohkeutta, @dsudis, @gryphye and @theprinceofprinces, because eight is my favourite number. As always, if you want to have been tagged: hurray, I tagged you (even if your name isn’t precisely visible)! If you don’t want to have been tagged: pfft, there’s no tag here, I don’t know what anyone’s talking about.
It's the Best Time of the Year by @chicklette
Okay, so I maybe forgot about the last couple of days of #ficwritersweek 😕 So instead I’ve been mucking around with aesthetic-y type things for some adorable bakery au fics I’ve been reading which are making me super hungry. 🤤 This fic made reference to maple pecan scones with penuche frosting, the pic I used is from a recipe for oatmeal maple scones with pecans and sour cherries. The frosting just looked better. Oh, and the shield ornament can be found here.
