I am not supposed to know the Officer whose name is going to be carved on The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in DC because he was murdered in the line of duty, but I do. It's not supposed to be from the Department I worked for, but it is. He is not supposed to be someone that I worked with and called a friend, but he was. It was not supposed to end like this for him, but it did. His family was not supposed to say their final farewells to him for another 50 years, but they are. There isn't anything I can say about Toney that has not already been said by everyone. These are not just platitudes for someone who has passed away. He truly was a great person with a heart of gold. After meeting his family, I know where all of that came from. I will never forget Antwan Toney or his family as they both left an impression on my heart. I also wanted to add a few more pictures and videos of Toney I had on my phone and computer. Some are mine and some were sent to me by other Officers on the scene that day. Some have been posted already but to my knowledge not all of them have. I remember in the days, months and years after Devan passed away when I would see a new picture or one I had not seen in a while how much it meant to me. My hope is that Toney’s family sees them and see him enjoying a pretty good day in the profession he chose so early in life.
