This woman was new. Unfamiliar. The way she entered the house and seemed to just make herself at home put the child at unease. Though, he knew his father and uncle were out, and the woman who he was normally left with also had a mission, the child couldn’t help but feel a bit insecure with this new person. Even if it seemed his father and uncle were very familiar with her.
Cautiously, Nero peeked around a corner, blue eyes studying the blonde woman with contempt. Puffing out cheeks, he tried to keep himself as quiet as he could, his little glare suspicious as he tried to hide from sight. Of course, just because he thought he couldn’t be seen, doesn’t mean he wasn’t clearly visible.
Nero held an iguana in the palm of his hand, already becoming attached to the reptilian demon. The child cried out when his pet was snatched from him, “No don’t! Don’t hurt my only friend!”
His parent chuckled darkly. “Everything I do is in your best interest, kiddo. Now let me dispose of this... abomination. It’ll only end up harming you anyway.”
The whitette was on the verge of having a tantrum. “I hate you! You’re not my real dad!” He stomped over to his room and slammed the door to pout alone. The little iguana didn’t deserve to die at the hands of his foster father. “I hate you.” Nero mumbled again, not noticing the reptile as it crawled through the space beneath his door. Only when the lizard was in front of him did he calm down. “Lizzy?” He sniffled and held out a trembling hand to the cold blooded demon.
A light surrounded the otherworldly creature, momentarily blinding Nero. When the light faded, the boy found himself gazing back at a child who appeared to be around the same age as him. He laughed nervously before shaking his head in disbelief. “What are you...?”
