• he prefers vanilla over chocolate (but doesn't dislike the latter either)

• he hates vinegar

• he's lowkey scared of spiders and maggots

• his favorite flowers are carnations

• he showers daily or else he feels really awful (it's bc he didn't really have access to warm water and soap growing up, so now that he does he's using it to the fullest)

• he cuts his own hair, and has been doing so since he was a teen

• he has a habit of covering his face with his hands when he's embarassed (you've seen it a few times here)

• he enjoys cooking and baking

• he draws really well (he's been drawing since he was a kid, mostly on the margins of notebooks, only later buying paper for himself)

• the only parts of his body that he actually likes are his hair, beard and arms

• he grew a beard as soon as it was possible, as he has a natural baby face and really dislikes it (the beard makes him look more mature)

• he's good at hand-to-hand combat, his only weakness being his bones (punching someone on a hard part, like jaw or cheekbones, is very likely to result in broken knuckles on his side. because of this, he relies mostly on gut punches in terms of actual punching, and will usually try to grab and hit the opponent's head against a hard surface (wall/ground) instead of hitting directly).

• he enjoys slow dances

• he can sometimes go on sprees of emotional eating/stress binging, but tries to limit it as best he can

• he drinks a lot of peppermint tea (he enjoys it, and it also slightly helps with his stomach issues)

• when he was a kid, he'd feed homeless cats with whatever was left. this is probably where his love for cats started. (he kept the habit throughout his life, and still goes to feed them when he can, this time with actual cat food)

• he uses a lot of cosmetic products (as in, hair products, soap etc). not because he's THAT obsessed with looking good, he just likes to feel clean and like he did everything he could.

• he really loves cuddles

• he's lowkey scared of strangers touching his hair, due to a trauma that i never had an opportunity to write about here, and is too long to write in a headcannon post (you're welcome to ask about it). however, when done by someone he trusts (martha/james in al au), hair stroking is a very calming gesture for him, and he enjoys it a lot

• he's bad at lying, and also really dislikes it. he can not tell the whole truth (dislikes it too, and will only do so if neccessary), but won't outright lie.

yep, it's after his father (charles miller). due to his relationship with him, he sincerely hates the name and avoids using it, introducing himself as just "Henry Miller", and if he has to, "Henry C. Miller".

He’s a child again. A fairly young one at that, five or six at the oldest.

He remembers the scent of the flowers and grass that surrounded the church, and the sound of the other kids laughing as they raced out of service and towards the nearby forest for an afternoon of play.

His father holds him back from joining them, just for a moment, to remind him about their scripture lesson later. Daniel could remember his reminder a lot clearer now than as a child that day, when he had been far too distracted by their game to remember to come home on time.

He hadn’t made that mistake again. His father was always so pleased at how punctual he was going forward.

Hogwarts AU

*knuckle crack* Let’s do this.

Anders is a Muggleborn Ravenclaw. Not because he isn’t brave enough to be in Gryffindor, but because the moment he finds out there’s a reason for all the strange things that have been happening around him all his life, he wants to know everything. He eventually will be the Ravenclaw with the most detention ever because around Fifth Year, he no longer can deal with the blood prejudice and calmly explaining things no longer works, so he starts fighting. 

Detention is where he meets Hawke for the first time, who has a fat lip and a black eye, and refuses to let anyone heal it, because she earned that punch from some Asshole Gryffindor (which, as a Gryffindor, she knows well) who was absolutely horrified that she let her first-year Hufflepuff sister come sit in their common room. He made Bethany cry, and Hawke had to take care of it. She fought hard and dirty, and if it weren’t for Aveline, prefect extraordinaire, she would have won that fucking fight. They bond because Hawke and her siblings were raised in the Muggle world, because her mother ran away from all that pure blood/half blood bullshit with a Muggle man. He was a scientist. 

Merrill is a Hufflepuff as well, but she’s no slouch. She’s got that dreamy air about her that makes people think she easy to mock, but she’s not. There are Whispers about the Sabrae family and what Merrill’s older sister did to help fight in the war, a powerful and strange dark magic that no one should speak of. Merrill just smiles when asked and says, “Mahariel is very clever.” And that freaks people out a lot.

Varric is a seventh year, though I’m not sure what house, and later he takes up residence in Hogsmeade because he likes the atmosphere there. He takes a shine to Hawke and her little group, and there are many Hogsmeade weekends spent in the Three Broomsticks where he teaches them how to cheat at cards. He’s part-goblin like Professor Flitwick. I think he opens his home to Isabela, and Anders when he eventually gets kicked out of his foster home, and later, to Fenris. 

I think Fenris and Isabela are Slytherins and band together rather quicky, because they both need freedom. Isabela has been told since she was a little girl that when she is finished with her studies, she’s going to marry into a pureblood family, to a man that could be her father, and it’s a great coup for her mother, who is a half-blood with less than noble lineage. She doesn’t think of the implications about promising a girl before she’s even 12. Fenris, on the other hand, is almost certainly touched by Dark Magic. There’s something strange about him, no including the markings that glow when he tries to do more than a basic spell. (Rumors abound that he’s some unholy splice of wizard and house-elf, because of his large eyes that seem to dominate his face, and unlike Merrill, he doesn’t have a family line to speak of.) Isabela and Fenris make a promise though, in the dark one night after his benefactor–because Danarius Is Not His Father and yet takes care of him–writes to him about the plans and tests needed to be done over winter break: they are never going back.
