Note: Sorry for not posting but I have been busy trying to figure out something in my life recently but now I am back and here is Impweed Part 3.
“So where were we in our little tale? I can hardly remember as things around here are still a bit hectic right now, but I still haven't filled you in on what has happened before.”
“Okay, so the 17 of us started to travel to our destination with me leading. I should have been prepared for ambushes and so on as a few of us where picked off while walking, it was the weak link in the chain and sadly I didn't see it until we where at our destination and down to 13 with the five I said still intact. Two from my twelve had been swiped and the other 3 where from the other few. I felt sick that I let this go by me unnoticed and the others had reacted worse, sobbing and hugging each other and showing emotions I can't really appreciate, I'm not a very emotional person and seeing this just made me confused but now I know that losing someone really close is a difficult situation to control, the raw emotions that flow over you is incredible, I look at this in such a third person view yet I have experienced these feelings first hand.”
“Sam was rather emotionless as expected, I wanted to talk to him about why I brought him to this place but first I had to tell everyone about well, this place. We where at a scout camp that I was told about by Michael, it was just outside of our suburb with large fields on one side and a Forrest on the other, it was a large camp with a large Building with a large hall and a few bedrooms in it, then there where large tents in a semi-circle on the opposite side of the building and a few tin huts placed on either side of the building. Someone had left the camp quickly as there was burnt out ashes in the main fireplace centralized in front of all shelters. People here must have heard of the disaster and went to see if there families where alright as there was still a large supply of food and water, all the tents where filled with sleeping bags and the bedrooms in the building had beds and desks. It was already late at this point so everyone just separated into different tents and slept, the girls had 2 of there own tent and the boys had 3 but after the shock everyone had just gone through I didn't see anyone getting any sleep.”
“Everyone woke up the next morning to my voice through the intercom, I couldn't sleep the night before. There was too much going on and I had to do something so I took one of the bedrooms in the building for myself and started messing around with the wiring around the camp, I got the intercoms working which was useful and I called everyone to come to the hall to decide what we where going to do.”
“Slowly everyone trickled into the hall, some where yawning and wondering what this was about while others alert and obviously didn't get more than half an hour of sleep the night before. Some people can just ignore problems such as the situation we are in but others take it badly and I could already see a few of them ready to emotionally collapse. So I knew I had to tell everyone what we where going to be doing.”
“There was a small podium with a broken microphone and a sheet of paper with the 'camp activities of 2014'. I didn't want to stand at the podium as I'm not a great speaker but we had to decide what we were going to do, so I walked to the podium and suddenly everyone's eyes were on me, I was the only reason they had survived and they appreciated that yet I could see there uncertainty. They weren't sure that I was prepared for what would be lying ahead of us.”
“So I started, “You all are here for a reason.” I was already twitching and fidgeting at this amount of attention drawn towards me but I realized that I needed to be strong and as hard as a rock to make this situation work. “You are either here because you where worthy to survive or a good friend of mine and you have showed your loyalty to me, we already have some pressing matters such as food and water that we will need to attend to, I have a suggestion of growing crops in the fields to the west. Of course we will have to look after these crops and work on them but it will give us something to do.” Everyone was silent, they had no idea that I had planned this all out so extensively, that I actually had an idea of what I was talking about. “So does anyone have any suggestions?” I felt like a teacher, & a bad one. Rory answered my question with “Maybe we could assign jobs for everyone since eventually everything will start running out, so we will need people to work on the farm, people to cut wood for the fire and hunters to gather meat and so on.” Rory & I had thought over this a lot and we had decided what we where going to do before anyone else even knew that we had planned anything.”
“We then decided that we where going to use the back of the piece of paper that was on the floor next to the podium and a pen I had found in my room upstairs to write down certain jobs for everyone, There was farmer, woodcutter, hunter, cook for making stews when food gets low, we put down medic even though no-one knew much about medicine but there were handy survival booklets to fill in who ever wanted to be the medic, guard from protecting the one entrance into the camp other than the dense forest. We waited until everyone had put there names down in there designated areas until I was the last one left in the room and I picked up the paper and scanned it, it was lucky that the choices where pretty balanced, some people had put down different categories but the one that stood out the most was the last category. I hadn't put it down but it distinctively said 'Leader' and underneath there was a name copied down in different handwriting and that name was my own.”
