What is child coding? Is it when you make a 17 year old short and childish because you yourself are short and childish or is it something else? Often times I see it being referred to as if you make a character short, they’re meant to resemble a kid but if you make a character tall and immature then it’s just an immature teen? I’m a bit lost on how to view this because personally, I’m a short person, I meant short teenagers who are very childish, loud laughter, gets excited easily (hell, I am very childish and I’m only 18) so like If I made yugi tsukasa from TBHK / jshk, a short and childish teenager whose impulsive and immature then is that child coding or is it something else?
so for me, child coding isn't just one thing. it's repeated things that have to be present several times. it includes the character themself AND others' reactions to that character. consistently commenting on how young they look or seem, etc etc etc. it's not just one thing--it's a combination of a myriad of factors that become unignorable when combined. Just being short isn't enough to be child coded--if it was, Teruteru would be. Like I said, there's a LOT that goes into it to make a character undeniably a kid.
Also, Tsukasa Yugi is a child. He's a freshman. He's an immature freshman, but he's still like...14. That's just a child, not child coded.
