Okay so. I have this headcanon/crack theory for the new Child's Play, and I just wanted to put it out there. Spoilers for the new movie, just in case!
So Chucky was brought back to the Zed Mart by a mother who was complaining that the Buddi doll (Chucky) was malfunctioning, right? Well, to know that, she had to have turned it on - most likely in the presence of her child. After all, if you give your kid a gift like that, you probably don't take it out of the box beforehand. That means that Chucky had another owner before Andy, that he may have also imprinted on as well. Once taken back to the store, they erased his memory, in one way or another. But what if they just put that side of him away? Stored in the back of his mind? If he took all of his memory, including the stuff he didn't use, into the new doll at the end of the movie, there's a possibility that the other side of him may have survived. A separate entity with different thoughts, feelings, emotions, and memories. A different doll entirely. And, if we're going on the theory that he imprinted on that kid as well, that means that Andy possibly could not be Chucky's only best Buddi.
I dunno, I've been thinking about this for a while.
