On World Children’s Day, Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), delivered a sobering message about the plight of Palestinian children in Gaza and the West Bank.

Marking over three decades since the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Lazzarini took to social media to highlight the devastating reality faced by Palestinian youth, stating, "Gaza has become a graveyard for children."

He emphasized that in Gaza, children are "being killed, injured, forced to flee, and deprived of safety, learning, and play." He further warned that an entire generation of children is at risk of being lost, as schools remain closed amid the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.

In the occupied West Bank, Lazzarini noted that children live under constant fear and anxiety. "Since October last year, more than 170 have been killed, while others are losing their childhood in Israeli detention centers," he said.
