Quick update on the Children Study!
It is going. Well. I’d say. It is going well. Okay-ish, maybe. So, like, yesterday we had to shut down one of the virology divisions before they released their child-targeting virus that we are not allowed to talk about, but it was... weird, to say the least. Also, it poorly defined “child” as anyone under 35 but over 4 and a seventh (years, I think), so it’s not like it was even a good submission for the children study yet. Slackers. Rushing their work. Even if it was bad.
So, after that mildly concerning incident, they got banned from the study. Of course, not like they’re the first. Just the first we’ve been allowed to mention. But don’t worry, there are plenty of other divisions participating that we will almost maybe most definitely perhaps tell you all about!

Well, either way, they’re part of the study, and Maisie sent a copy of her interview with Carter so that you can also be privy to the latest groundbreaking lasers-and-children study.
Maisie: So I’m guessing you’re doing something with lasers? Being one of the Laser Folk and all.
Carter: Yeah... it’s really cool, it has... well, maybe I shouldn’t say, y’know, last year and all...
Maisie: Carter if you don’t tell me what you’re studying, so help me I will take the [redacted] beam [redacted] and char the very [redacted] flesh [redacted] and then [redacted] [redacted] [redacted], [redacted]. Again.
Carter: Okay, sorry, sure yeah, lasers, the laser we are, uh, working on, well, uh, what’s cool is--
[Actually, most of the laser info is confidential, and Thalia (the Boss) won’t let us release specifics on the laser itself. Although, to be honest, it was like, seven pages of nothing but specifics like oh my gosh how did Maisie even get all that? I probably would have cut most of it before it was declared unsafe for the public anyway, like whatever, no one wants to read that. Now let’s get back to the unclassified part of the interview!]
Carter: ...And this will all be 100 times smaller than the previous version. Probably a bit more, uh, pricey, but that’s no big deal for something THIS COOL, amirite?! Maisie? Right?
Maisie: Oh, uh yeah. Suuuper cool, Carter. Where do children come in exactly?
Carter: Children? This thing has to have children? Since when?
Maisie: That’s kind of the point of the Department’s joint-effort Children study.
Carter: Well, we can use the laser... on a child. And see what happens. That’s the plan. Totally the plan. Never been done before, nuh-uh.
Maisie: Sure, Carter, sure.
