Built in the 1920's the Palace Theater in Childress, Texas is currently undergoing restoration. After much deterioration, the City of Childress turned the theater over to the Childress Community Theater Guild and was designated a Texas Historical Landmark in 2005. According to the theater's Facebook page, Gene Autry and his famous horse, Champion, performed on its stage. Fund raising efforts continue to preserve and restore the theater.
