i see so many people saying that ribbit is a complete toxic friend- and affected jax so much to change his entire personality to how he is today but i just cant make myself think the same 😭 there are so many key details in episodes and what cast members of tadc have said about ribbit that makes it seem so unlikely. if jax and ribbit had both gotten along very well, she'll obviously have parts of her that are like jax.

personally, i just imagine her to be sarcastic and a funny person who sometimes gossips with the "chill fellas"... i cant imagine her as a toxic, abusive friend??! i get that in scenes such as ragatha saying, "i couldn't fix jax" , or the scene were jax looks at ribbits door differently compared to kafumos in ep6, there's ways to theorise that yes- maybe she was a horrible friend who had a impact on jax and maybe even ragatha. but i think its completely wrong how others look at them.

of course, ep8 and 9 haven't came out- and im guessing- AND HOPING!! that we get some ribbit scenes such as flashbacks, or maybe even somebody talking about her since she now has a confirmed voice actor and members apart of the tadc cast who love her 🥹 so, for actual details about her personality and who she was for the people she knew, we'll probably have to wait until some form of cast member or an actual episode tells us more about her.

i believe that genuinely, jax is just troubled from losing both of his best friends and the people he was constantly with. that massive impact in a life you cant change will affect you massively- and personally i think it made jax not want to get close with anybody at all anymore. we can see how jax pushes pomni away, probably out of fear that whoever hes friends with, maybe he'll mess it up again, or fears losing the people closest to him again. the way he looked at ribbits door, i believe that he just misses her... alot, and maybe theres even some memories of her which affect him alot, like a conversation or an argument.

in ep7, we see his last thought really before almost abstracting is the people closest to him, ribbit and kafumo. in his abstraction, the things he sees while in his state is both ribbit, kafumo and of course him aswell. we can tell he misses his friends- and maybe even just wants to be closer to them.

i think that they definitely had a impact on jaxs behaviour, like the speech that he gave pomni about how none of this is real, maybe he had gotten it from his past friends from a conversation he had kept deep in his mind.

one of the last scenes we see in ep7- where ribbit and jax (and maybe even someone else) are arguing in a past adventure, i believe that the memory of that still haunts him because after that ribbit had abstracted, losing one of his closest friends. the argument they had, he probably blames himself for it- and maybe even ragatha does too, coming from when she said "not anymore" to jax having friends. its clear in the episodes that theres obviously something unspoken about ribbit that jax and ragatha hold to themselves, especially about that argument. i think its clear looking at scenes of jax thinking about his past friends, like in the intermission- how he runs past everyones door but ribbits, or how he thinks about them in ep7, it feels like ribbit and jax were definitely alot closer and felt more deeper towards eachother. im not saying that they were lovers or related or anything 😭, but they were definitely close and ribbits abstraction definitely affected him more throughout the episodes.

theres so much more, like again how ragatha is VERY serious about "jax trying to corrupt pomni", there are alot of different ways how what she says can tell us alot about jax or his past friends but for now, im just hoping there's some kind of explanation between them all.

of course this is literally just a stupid rant i made randomly while thinking about it 🥹 if you see this and maybe even read it which i doubt cause this is HORRRIBLEE, if you wanna say anything about your theories between the gang id love to hear them <3
