About looking. There is something ephemeral about looking into a chimpanzees eyes. Such a close relative and yet so distant. In Uganda the conflict between chimpanzee and human has been increasing over the last years. Reason for this is human encroachment into chimp territory. This means that sometimes these animals attack humans because they feel threatened and indeed they are. Humans in turn then get traumatised and afraid which makes them despise their close relatives. It is hence important to sensitise people through education and decrease the conflict through management of human and chimpanzee behaviour. Tourism plays a major role in reaching these goals.
