I respect your opinion and all, but I always saw it as like, you dont age in a dream, and Maria and Gehrman were obviously trapped in their respective dream scapes at different times. They’re probably closer together than it appears but their appearance represents the age they were when they entered the dream/ nightmare. I mean, I’m probably over thinking this, but still
I don’t understand why you’d be defending them like this, though. Say we take age completely out of the equation. Gehrman did not make a replica of Maria. He made a shell that resembles her to fulfill his obsessive, manic fantasies. The doll is nothing like Maria. Maria is strong, stubborn, and unrelenting even after death and being trapped in the nightmare. The doll is a soft-spoken, subservient, waifu-fantasy-turned-real replica of what was a strong woman. Plain Doll is what he must have thought Maria would turn into once he’d won her heart (or whatever bullshit he was fantasizing). And once he got tired of her, he discarded her. Like getting bored with an old toy. The doll is literally a sentient sex doll, and if that doesn’t reflect the hideous and unhealthy nature of “gehrmaria” I don’t know what will.
