Steve was far too worried about Tommy’s black eye and who was goddamn responsible for it to care much about propriety but he did give the teacher his name and ID so she could check he could take the kids home. Tommy swore he had nothing to do with it but it was hard for it to make sense–Tommy always got into trouble while Billy was like their mom, in more ways than their behavior. “So you didn’t start this?” That’d be a first but the teacher also said as much.
“Is the kid suspended? Are they getting detention? Is that even a thing in elementary school?” he asked a little confused before the boys moved from the teacher to either side of him, already excited about their funday with their uncle. “I’m sorry, I’m Steve. Hi. This whole black eye situation killed my manners, I apologize.”
