Benicia Run for Education is Sunday at 8 a.m. in downtown Benicia. This is a fantastic, family-friendly event for everyone first-time runners to expert athletes. You can even register to Shop N Stroll or "Hit the Snooze" and be a virtual runner! All events highlight Benicia's rich history starting from the beautiful First Street Green in downtown Benicia. Both the 5K and 10K courses are certified by the USATF and professionally timed. Participants will pass historical sights, gorgeous Victorian homes and breathtaking views of the Carquinez Straight. The 10K course takes runners into the beautiful Benicia State Recreation Area, while the Kids' Fun-Run (open to children ages 12 and under) runs along the Benicia waterfront. After the festivities, stay and enjoy the day in Benicia. Proceeds from this event benefit the Benicia Education Foundation, a volunteer-run, community-based non-profit organization that helps fund programs and services at all seven schools in the Benicia Unified School District.
