Hey there! I am a fan of the essays and thematic explorations of fate stay night that you have written, and they inspired me to try my hand at really digging into the text of the vn. I have been toying around with the idea to create a video essay talking about how the noble phantasms of the fsn cast represent the ideals of each character. Since you are a famed Cú enjoyer, I was wondering if you had any perspective on how Gae Bolg relates to the heroic ideals of lancer. Also, if you do answer this ask, would I be able to quote and credit you for your input?
I've answered basically the same question before here, though that's a post that builds on the larger tainbocuailnge canon of lancerposts so if you need anything elaborated on more for your video let me know. I recommend looking through my tags too, a lot of what I have to say about lancer I already said at some point.
the causality reversal being something lancer made himself is from fate/side material and it being one step below a divine authority is from fate/extra material
I also have this post about shirou that's relevant to the topic and I think I said something related to this about gilgamesh once too but I can't remember where I left that post right now
it might be interesting to note that gae bolg was the first noble phantasm nasu came up with
I'm okay with you (or anyone else) quoting me with credit in your video. I personally don't like video essays (the medium simply doesn't agree with me) but I do like meddling and having opinions so if you want my input on any part of the process feel free to ask
Hey verse! A question for you about saber. What is it about her that you think makes people so incredibly "normal" about her? She seems to be on of those characters that change peoples brain chemistry a bit.
You can find out for free by playing Fate/Stay Night Fate route.
But if you want an actual serious answer, my best guess is that she makes people a bit insane because she is both someone people really want to save and someone who is impossible to save.
Without going into too much details, if you played the Fate route you will probably come out of it wanting Saber to be happy. She deserves that much! She should get to have a dumb coffee shop au where she eats good food and have a soft office romance and get to be boringly mundane in every way!!
But you can't do that. You can't save her. Saber as a person will simply not let herself be saved. If you you give her one hour, one minute, one second of free time she will immediately channel it to her duty. On her literal fucking deathbed she couldn't let go of her ideal. When Bedivere denied her death Camelot was already gone and EVEN THEN Saber just went off to become a god. Even if Lancelot hadn't cucked her even if Mordred hadn't betrayed her Saber she would still not be living a quiet happy life she would just be in the same meat grinder forever. You can't save Saber because you can't force salvation upon someone who does not wish to be saved.
Saber drives everyone insane because the only mercy you can offer her is force to die for good. Because people die when they are killed. If you don't die when killed you are not a person. You are a sword, a god, a monster, but you're not a person.
Hey there! A little while back I sent you and ask about finishing F/SN, where is the best place to get hollow ataraxia? Is there a definitive fan translation like with the ultimate edition of stay night?
fha has two major patches, the translation patch (there is only one fha translation as far as I'm aware) and the voice patch (the original was unvoiced, this patch rips the voices from the vita rerelease). there is no censor patch like for fsn that i know of and i've neer seen a version with the sfw vita release scenes going around either so you'll just have to bear with the one sex scene the main story has
the game and its patches are pretty easy to find as separate downloads with a short search but here's a torrent

I appreciate your fight to get people to read vns. I have been working to get my friends into type moon. I just finished F/sn myself, and it was amazing. Though getting my friends to interact with the series outside of the anime might be a losing battle for me.
glad you liked fate/stay night! it's a classic for a reason. now do fate/hollow ataraxia
I'll never understand why it's so hard to get people to read visual novels because when I first found out about the genre my reaction was basically "oh this rules". if you read books with any kind of frequency you will also enjoy visual novels. if you play text heavy mobile games like fgo or arknights you will also enjoy visual novels. if you play story driven rpgs you will also enjoy visual novels. if you watch anime with subtitles you will also enjoy visual novels. if you read homestuck you will also enjoy visual novels.
I was having a lot of thoughts playing through the ciel route in the tsukihime remake last night. Im on the start of day 8 and may have mild spoilers for people concerned about it.
While I do know how this will end because I have read the original, I am really loving how they are building up tension up to this point. Things just feel wrong after doing the arc route. Volv is dead, roa is dead, and yet the plot continues. Shiki is showing the subtlest signs of having something wrong with him. The famously light eater is craving raw meat and is seemingly unendingly hungry. Then there is the random outburst of sexual harassment against ciel if you eat lunch with him that starts as a standard joke you would see in any perverted shonen series, but it makes ciel very uncomfortable. It feels very out of character for Shiki if you payed attention to him at all since the last route, but it doesnt draw much attention to itself. These scenes all still have lighthearted framing and no one comments on him acting weird.
I am also very much enjoying Noel in the remake. As well as the greater cast of characters from the church. The holy church has always been a fun originization in the nasuverse with some of the best characters in the series having ties to it (love you kirie). The politics and maneuvering of these new characters really help fill in some of the time that was a bit mishandled in the orignal. It seems like there are no "filler" days, less wasted time, even though this route is much longer than the first one.
As someone who has always loved ciel I am excited to see how they stick the landing.
Nightwing in the office today!
For the first time in like 6 years, I have put together a new DC cosplay. I'm very happy with how this came out.
