Hannibal x male reader. Its been a few months of dating and (obviously) hannibal is hiding it well until reader decides to mention how well he thinks hannibal cooks the human meat compared to how he used to do it :}

You were perched on one of the high stools by the counter, sipping wine, watching him work like you always did when you stayed over.

Dinner with Hannibal had become as much a part of your relationship as the quiet evenings in his study or the rare moments when he’d allow himself to laugh. Three months together, and you knew his kitchen habits by heart.

“Smells incredible.” you said, leaning forward to peek into the pan.

“Patience,” he chided softly, glancing at you with that faint smirk that always made you want to test his boundaries. “Good things take time.”

“You don’t have to tell me that,” you replied, swirling your wine. “If anyone knows that it’s me.”

He plated the pasta, garnished it with a flourish, and set it before you at the dining table. You took a bite, letting the flavors bloom on your tongue before nodding in approval. “You’ve gotten better.”

Hannibal’s brow lifted a fraction. “Better?”

“Mhm,” You stabbed at the pasta again, chewing thoughtfully. “Your sear’s cleaner now. And the way you render the fat, it’s smoother. You’ve really mastered it.”

His expression was polite, amused. “I’m gratified you notice.”

You set your fork down, leaning your chin on your hand like you were letting him in on a secret. “You cook human meat far better than I ever did.”

The silence that followed was subtle but heavy, as if the air itself had taken a step back. Hannibal’s posture didn’t change, but you could feel the shift, the brief pause in the orchestra before the next note. “You’ve known.”

It wasn’t a question.

You gave a little shrug. “Knew by the second date, actually, but I didn’t say anything because I wanted to see how long you’d think you could hide it from me.” You grinned, teasing. “Turns out, you think very highly of your poker face.”

Hannibal studied you, the way one might study an unfamiliar work of art, searching for the hidden technique, wondering if he’d missed something vital. “And yet, you’ve continued to eat here.”

“You’re my boyfriend, Hannibal. And you’re brilliant. Plus…” You gestured at your plate. “Credit where it’s due, best I’ve ever had. I wasn’t about to give that up over a little moral technicality.”

His mouth curved slowly, that dangerous smile that always meant trouble. “Most people would run screaming.”

“Most people aren’t me.” You sipped your wine, meeting his gaze without flinching. “Besides, I know my way around a ribcage too. We’re not so different, you and I.”

He reached across the table, his fingers brushing your wrist in a rare, unhurried display of affection. “Then, my love, it seems I must always ensure my finest work is made with you in mind.”

You smirked. “I’d expect nothing less.”

‘’There are means of influence other than violence.’’ From Contorno (3x05) is SO important to Hannigram and the way their romantic relationship is confirmed in canon! What Chiyoh is actually saying is that Will and Hannibal could choose love/sexual intimacy to release their feelings about each other, but they choose to hurt each other instead. Chiyoh disapproves of that. I mean, this quote shows that Chiyoh knows what’s going on between Hannibal and Will. All she and Will talked about when they were together was Hannibal. Will showed her his scar, told her stories, ‘’he left me with a smile’’ and ‘’One could argue, intimately’’ (to not even mention ''I've never known myself as well as I know myself when I'm with him'') And even if Chiyoh may not have seen him for a long time, Chiyoh knows Hannibal too. She knows the people he attracts. She even compares Will to Mischa (the only person H ever truly loved) and Bedelia tells Hannibal the same in Florence. 

When Chiyoh says ‘’There are means of influence other than violence.’’ on the train, she kisses Will. Very distantly, barely a real kiss. It’s not because she likes him, it’s a demonstration. That kiss is an explanation. Maybe this kind of intimacy, this kind of influence, is the means you’re looking for.

But Will doesn’t understand what she’s saying. Or, if he does, he ignores the meaning of her words. He looks confused and tries to chase Chiyoh’s lips and doesn’t understand that she kissed him only to make him understand what the answer is to his own relationship with Hannibal instead of whipping out a knife or a gun. Chiyoh is literally telling him what Hannibal wants him to do! Of course she got annoyed that he didn't get her! She gets so annoyed at that, that she says ‘’But violence is what you understand.’’ and shoves Will off the train. And goddamn, Will definitely deserved that.

I was making an edit but then I got distracted watching this scene ten times in a row, if she had her back to me and then turned around to look at me like this I'd either be on my knees or fainting
