God, just...Jenna and Boy 412!Septimus. The youngest child and only daughter in the family, just told she is the long lost princess of the realm and that she is being hunted, is immediately put on the run with her family and picks up this tiny child soldier like he's a stray kitten. She's pushing him into garbage chutes and dragging him into boats. Patting his head and letting him sleep on her lap. Accurate 10-year-old girl behavior honestly.

I relate to Marcia Overstrand because I too am particularly fond of Beetle

This whole scene that I just read cracked me up: Simon walks into the Manuscriptorium, sees Merrin, runs him off. Marcia and Marcellus walk into the Manuscriptorium, see Simon, run him off. Jillie Djinn walks in, sees Marcia and Marcellus, and runs them both off. Peak comedy

Marcia is completely justified in her reaction to Septimus secretly visiting Marcellus! This is the man who kidnapped Septimus only 6 months ago, even without the Alchemie vs Magyk thing she is absolutely going to consider him a threat

I agree with Septimus, the scariest thing about Jenna being kidnapped is that so many people are simply not convinced that she's in any danger

Also I just love Beetle okay. He's three-ish years older than Septimus and Jenna, meaning when we meet him in Flyte he's roughly 14 years old. He's besties with the ExtraOrdinary Wizard's apprentice and they bond over fizzy drinks and candy. He meets the 11-year-old Princess and calls her ma'am. He's in charge of inspecting the ice tunnels which basically means he gets to sled all around the secret passages under the Castle. Precious boy

Septimus, Jenna, and Beetle are constantly ready to throw hands in defense of each other, and that's one of the things I love about this trio
