Day 161 of #100daysofpractice! This is definitely a contender for the #chloesprogresschallenge since this has always been a tricky spot for me and I'd really like to track its improvement over time. I'm also trying to continue with my plan to practice parts of old concertos each day to keep the repertoire more fresh in my hands and mind. I know I won't be able to keep up with it each and every day, but I'm going to try to do it as often as possible! ❤️ 🎻Brahms Violin Concerto: III. Today I am starting my #100daysofpractice journey! I’ve been wanting to do this challenge since Hilary Hahn began promoting it to the musical community on Instagram, however it wasn’t the right time for me to start back in May. But I knew I would get to it eventually! Here’s the beginning of Philip Glass’ Violin Concerto No. 2 - subtitled “American Four Seasons”. I’ve been playing around with different fingerings for this opening trying to figure out which ones best sound like the emotions I’m trying to convey. Also getting these grace notes to speak clearly is a challenge - and there are a lot of uncomfortably written double stops in this movement, so I’m trying to get them clear and in tune as well. I hope you’ll join me on the 100 days of practice journey as well as #chloesprogresschallenge which actually ties in very nicely with the 100 days. Remember the progress challenge is just about picking a particular section of your piece that you want to work on and recording and posting it regularly to hear your progress!
