“Feel free to ask about either of these.” DON’T MIND IF I DO...
I finished watching the anime recently so I really do like seeing fic with Patty. 😭 I’m really excited for that one!! I like their found family type of dynamic, it’s so super cute—if you have any thoughts on all three of them and what their relationship is like outside of the anime/DMC5 mentions I’d love to hear them 🥺💝
Ah yes! Thoughts on Dante, Patty, and Morrison’s family relationship? Don’t mind if I do! This got a little long, but I just love discussions like this.
I just love these three together. They’ve got such a strange dynamic, but it works, you know? With her cameo as an 18 year old in DMC5 we now know (if we assume Dante to be in his 40s during the game) that Dante is physically old enough he could have had a kid around Patty’s age...but I don’t think they fit the father-daughter type relationship at all.
Patty might be a bit obnoxious at times, but deep down I think she is actually quite mature for her age, considering all she’s been through. So I don’t think she looks at Dante as a father-type figure at all (especially since he’s so irresponsible sometimes), more like an older brother. And I feel like Dante thinks of her as that little annoying sister who won’t leave him alone but he loves her anyway, even if he’d never admit it aloud.
You can see it in the anime (from what I remember) with the way they treat each other. They poke fun at/insult each other just like siblings (sometimes heavily so), but I bet the minute someone else tried to insult/make fun of one of them, whoever did it better watch out because no one else gets that privilege except them!
Add Morrison into the mix and you’ve got what I see is the father figure in it all. He seems to treat Dante the way a parent treats their own adult child; letting him have his independence, but still being there to provide support, guidance, and help if needed. And again from what I remember from the anime, he’s always there to smooth things out between the two bickering “siblings” if things get a little out of hand between them with his own brand of “tough love.”
