The pilgrims’ hymn for Chōhōji Temple (頂法寺) a.k.a. Rokkakudō (六角堂) “the Hexagonal Hall” from a hymnal for the thirty-three temples of the western pilgrimage circuit dedicated to Kannon Bodhisattva (観音菩薩)
My own very rough, tentative translation follows:
Number Eighteen: The Rokkakudō Hall of Mount Purple Cloud Chōhōji Temple (Tendai School) within the Capital, Yamashiro Province
Karasuma Higashi-Iru, Rokkaku Avenue, Nakagyō Ward, Kyoto
A hymn for Nyoirin Kannon:
Here is where you pray
That the six hard angles of
Appetite within
Your ever reckoning mind
Be rounded smooth, so they say
