It's a tie between Thomas Hunt and Maxwell Beaumont. I know, I know. Two completely different characters, yet I adore them to pieces. They are both supportive of the MC's and stand by them without a second thought during horrible events. They both have a sense of humor, which is a must for me in a LI. Thomas's humor is more dry which matches my own while Maxwell just makes me smile with his silliness. They are adorable when both find out their MC is in love with them and have no hesitation in proposing marriage. This is why I replay Red Carpet Diaries and The Royal Romance all the time 🤦🏻♀️😂
Honorable mentions: Trystan Thorne, Jax Matsuo, and Damien Nazario. I love a man who sticks by your side no matter what type of danger it puts them in.
your response to the ask abt number of chapters in Choices books made me remember that atv, mtfl, and weh are 100 chapters long, and now I'm wondering why PB thought that was a good idea (both in general and also for those books) considering they usually do like 16 or at most 25ish - like why not make them series and divide those stories into several books instead of doing 1 super long book?
that said, do you think there are any kinds of stories that would actually benefit from being that long? or do you feel that super long books are generally not a good idea
They always randomly decide to try to push the envelope every now and then. I know ATV was 22 chapters. And I believe they had done that many once or twice before that with TRR, but it wasn’t common for books to be that long at all and really still isn’t now. I think it made sense for ATV to be a longer book. But even with all those chapters, they still didn’t develop the story very well? Which just made it feel longer than it actually was. There’s no reason we as players should know barely anything about the two opposing sides in the war and the cultures of the different planets and stuff. Why even put all of that in there if you’re not going to explore it?
I can also kind of see why they tried 100 chapters with MTFL because 1) it was their first daily book and 2) there’s lots to write about when it comes to characters who are seniors in high school. But the execution was terrible. Still can’t wrap my head around why they decided to make Witness (I’m assuming that’s what you meant instead of WEH) 28 chapters though. That’s a mystery to me because it could have and should have been wrapped up in 16-18 chapters like pretty much every other book.
To actually answer your question though, I think they could make longer books in certain genres and they could actually be good if they finally figured out how to balance shit out. Definitely not 100 chapters long, but maybe like 23-30 (although anything over 25 is pushing it). We could probably get a very intricate and well developed mystery, psychological thriller, period piece, or action book. But I don’t expect PB to actually be able to handle something like that. So I don’t think it’s a good idea for them to attempt it
i feel like pb writer's aren't paid well/enough so like, maybe it's one of the reasons why we've been getting books that are kinda mid? idk, just what i feel about pb and their writers rn
Yeah, I don't know. I don't feel like I know enough about what's going on behind the curtain, to really have an informed opinion on it. Maybe PB is like 98% of other big corporations, where the writers slave away and the bigwigs are the ones pocketing the money at the end of the day? I do feel like the writers are expected to churn out stories in a continuous back breaking pace though, I mean I may be totally wrong but lately the stories start off with so much potential then at the end they're rushed and sloppy.
Can some of the blame be placed on the writers? Or should we blame PB as a whole? How are they running things there? What are the demands they place on their writers? Work conditions could be effecting the quality of the books.
Regardless, I may fuss here and there but at the end of the day, I'll take what they give us. As a lesbian, there really isn't much content out there for us and after Lovestruck shut down, Choices is my favorite vn app.
General and Domestic for Shreya and Fiora please ❤️
Sure thing!
GENERAL:
1. Who initiated the relationship, and how did it go?
Shreya initiated, although there was plenty of mutual flirting leading up to it. At the end of Fiora's surprise birthday party, the others knew Shreya wanted some time alone with her, so they made excuses in order to leave the two of them alone. Shreya revealed her other gift for Fiora: a series of beautiful, multicolored fireworks that they watched together from the top of Tsuria Hall. They shared their first kiss shortly thereafter, and from then on, it was official!
2. Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?
Their actual "first date" was a trip to Pennelia the day after becoming official. Shreya couldn't resist going all-out! They visited the Sacreu Mineral Spring (Fiora got the Subtle Lengthening, while Shreya got the Radiance Infusion), ate at the famous Six Sources Restaurant and Diviner (they've since changed their name, of course), and went to the Starlight Observatory for drinks that night! And of course, Shreya being Shreya, they got plenty of shopping done that day as well!
3. What was their first kiss like?
See the above answer for #1.
4. Were they each other’s first anything (kiss, relationship, etc.)?
Shreya had had several relationships before, but for Fiora, Shreya was her first.
5. What’s their height difference? Age difference?
Shreya was born August 23rd, making her about five months older than Fiora. Shreya's about three inches taller than Fiora; after Fiora gets a Subtle Lengthening infusion they're about the same height until it wears off!
6. What’s their relationship with each other’s families? Do they share a friend group?
They both share the Pend Pals, of course! Shreya adores Fiora's sister Atlas but is frustrated by the latter's refusal to allow Shreya to give her any kind of makeover or fashion advice. Still, Atlas acknowledges that beneath Shreya's exterior, she's a competent fighter (especially when Fiora's threatened) and is reliable enough in a pinch.
Shreya's sister Nehal at first didn't think much of Fiora, especially when she found out about her Tuneless background, but eventually warmed up to her with time. By the time of Fiora and Shreya's wedding and beyond, Nehal and her family have made it a priority to schedule regular visits with Fiora and Shreya! Once little Priyanka was born, Nehal absolutely doted on her niece from then on.
7. Who takes the lead in social situations?
Shreya, naturally. Though Fiora does take more of a lead role when they're on the Tuneless side of the mirror, which makes for a fun role-reversal at times.
8. Who gets jealous easier?
Though Fiora has grown more confident than she was at the start of her time at Penderghast, she still has bouts of worry that she can't measure up to the many, many friends outside of the Pend Pals that Shreya is constantly making. Shreya is always quick to reassure her, of course!
9. Who whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear?
That would be Shreya. Is anyone really surprised?
DOMESTIC:
1. If they get married, who proposes?
Believe it or not, Fiora does! She made it her mission to out-do Shreya's literal neon sign of a gala date ask, and she managed to pull it off with a little help from Atlas, Alyssa, Griffin, and even Jake of all people. Shreya was completely shocked and to this day has never stopped gushing about the proposal to anyone who will listen! As for the details of the proposal itself... that's a fic of its own in the works!
2. What’s the wedding like? Who attends?
The wedding was held about a year after graduation from Penderghast. It was a true Mistry wedding through and through: incredibly elaborate, lavish, costing a fortune and a half, and with the entire Mistry family present. Atlas and Nehal were maids of honor, and though Atlas claimed to loathe every minute of it, Fiora definitely glimpsed her enjoying herself on the dance floor once or twice when she thought no one was looking.
The only real problem was that Fiora, of course, invited her best college friends Alyssa and Ian... but their respective spouses, being Tuneless, couldn't take more than a few steps into the Stoicheal Realm before being drained of their energy to the point they could barely stand! Fiora and Shreya held a second, smaller reception in Northbridge a few weeks later so that Estela and Jake, along with their other Tuneless friends, could properly attend.
3. How many kids do they have, if any? What are they like?
Just the one daughter, Priyanka Alyssa Luxen. Fiora carried, and Zeph was the donor. Little Priya inherited Fiora's Light-Attunement and as such is incredibly powerful. She's an artist who loves making beautiful, yet fleeting, sculptures of light and flame. See the relevant post for more details about Priya!
4. Do they have any pets?
Just their two Lumian, Dracarys and Rys. Eventually Priya gets a Lumian of her own while in high school, which she names "Sunset" due to its coloring.
5. Who’s the stricter parent?
Shreya tends to get a bit overbearing whenever they are out and about, or have company visiting. Fiora's often the one to gently remind her wife to relax a bit and allow Priya to do her own thing. As Priya grows older, Shreya gets a lot less strict.
6. Who worries the most?
Fiora worries about every possibility under the sun, given what she's been through. Shreya, in contrast, is more down-to earth. Shreya's worries are more along the lines of "what if I have a bad hair day?" while Fiora's are more "what if someone manages to resurrect Raife and he kidnaps Priya and takes her to another dimension and we never find her again?"
7. Who kills the bugs in the house?
As much as Fiora has learned to control her power, her Sourceborn nature makes using her powers for small things a risky task. Shreya takes point whenever a bug needs a good scorching.
8. How do they celebrate holidays?
With family; the more, the merrier! Given their large, lavish house, there's plenty of room for all, and almost every holiday means inviting all of the Pend Pals (and families), the whole Mistry family, their fellow Heroes of Cordonia who are Attuned and can thus survive in the Stoicheal Realm (meaning the Czasa twins, Quinn, Eva, Kenji, Sasha, Caleb, and Hayden, plus children where relevant). They're also happy to travel across the mirror to celebrate Tuneless holidays as well!
The one exception to this rule is Amorelia Day. This holiday is always set aside as a day for Fiora and Shreya to simply spend time just the two of them. (Zeph or Atlas typically end up on babysitting duty.) As much fun as the big holidays are, Fiora really appreciates having a simpler celebration for a change.
9. Who’s more likely to convince the other to come back to sleep in the morning?
A typical morning for the two of them:
Shreya: *sits up abruptly in bed* There's so much to do today! By the Sources, how am I going to get all of this done?! I need to talk with Nehal, handle the latest assignment for Stoicheal-Archikeal Relations, plan the Mirror Banquet, get things sorted with Priya's school, contact the--
Fiora: *still in bed, mumbling* Shreya?
Shreya: Yes?
Fiora: It's fine. We've got plenty of time today. Cuddle with me?
Shreya: ...You know I can never resist you.
10. Who’s the better cook?
While Shreya can cook decently well, Fiora has developed an incredible talent for it. She's learned to blend Tuneless and Attuned styles of cooking to create the world's first fusion recipes between the two. Though not the last - Raj has learned enough from her to start incorporating some of her recipes into his restaurants!
11. Who likes to dance?
Both of them, but Shreya makes it into an art form. Fiora more prefers to dance casually together at home, while Shreya prefers an audience.
22. Tell me about a character you’d like to see in a choices book?
I’m putting a read more right here hahahaha
I would want to see Leggie Nale 🤣🤣🤣
Ok, probably not, but I think he’d be fun. Burns and I have talked about this before, and if there was anyway possible to have Alyssa in my playthrough, I would want that. When we both play, we always feel like our MC’s are missing their best friend and have just decided they are always in the next room somewhere lol
23. Do you play any books only for diamonds?
Oh my god hahahah I played Wolf Bride for the diamonds and that one was interesting. I’ve played all the VIP books for diamonds. I’m not entirely through all of them yet but I’ve got a got stash of diamonds stocked up so I’m holding off for now.
TH:M and VoS are definitely underrated and for books that have such likeable characters and intricate storylines it really does come as a shock to me that no really talks about them as much as they deserve.
Who as your first LI and would you still choose them now?
My first LI was Sawyer from BSC back in 2016/17 and I think I'd still choose him now, lmao.
A plot you'd like to see in a Choices book.
A MYTHOLOGY ONE OMGGGG. I saw your ask about it and I agree that if PB took something from a popular (or even unpopular) story from mythology and put a fun twist on it I'd absolutely love it. I think it would be nice to see more hype for Asian mythology since it's really cool in general and the possible asethetic would be- 😘👌🏽 There are a lot of C and K Dramas that are set in mythological universes and PB could take a lot of notes from them.
A book you thought you'd hate but love after playing it.
Tbh, I thought Desire and Decorum was gonna be a cheesy disaster (It was cheesy but in the best way) and...I hate to admit it but I thought Blades was going to be mediocre because I thoight it was going to be their last gamble at keepinf the fandom interested and was at the end of my rope with PB at the time. I made a deal with myself that if Blades wasn't good I'd leave the app and not look back. But I'm happy it wasn't because Blades inspired me to make this Tumblr, and break out of my shell and environment and make friends.
