Sunday Breakfast - Puri and Cholay 😀
Cholay Curried Chickpeas Recipe This is a very flavorful recipe from North India, usually eaten with fried bread like bhatura or puri. I like to serve it over rice for a very filling meal. You can also try it as a quick snack over toasted bread.
Murgh cholay
- 1/2 cup oil. Heat up on medium
- 1 onion fry, brown
- 1 tbl ginger pasta, 1 tbl garlic paste. Bhoon 1 min
- 1 tbl water - bhoon 1 min
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp kashmiri chili powder
- 1 tsp ginger powder
- 1 tsp black salt
- 1 tsp amchur
- 1 tbl coriander powder
- 1 tbl water and mix for 1 min
- 2lbs chicken w bone and Medium high stove. Bhoon for 5-7 mins w stirring. Chicken will turn brown
- 1/2 cup yogurt. Bhoon 5 mins w stirring till oil separates
- 1/2 cup crushed tomatoes. Mix well for 2-5 mins till oil comes back up
- 2 cups boiled chickpeas. Stir 2-3 mins till oil comes up again
- 2 cup water. Stir
- Cover 7 mins on medium low heat
- Check if chicken done otherwise cook with 5 mins interval with cover till chicken is done.
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 2-3 green chilli
- Cook for 2 mins
- Garnish and dish out

Channa Masala
1 cup chickpeas from can
1 small onion, finely diced
1/2 to 1 cup oil
3 leveled tablespoons/25g Shan Chana Masala Mix
Instructions
Heat 4 cups of water and add chickpeas (chanas).
Add Shan Chana Masala Mix and stir. Cover and cook on low heat for about 45 minutes until the chanas turn to a darker shade.
Heat oil in a medium pot and fry the onion until golden. Add the chana.
Stir fry until oil separates from the chanas.
