The most frequently seen cactus in the High Desert of New Mexico is the cholla cactuses of cacti if you prefer. They are quick to stick on anything that dares brush up against them and, unfortunately, seem to snag every plastic bag people have not discarded properly. This fact alone should make you applaud cities like Santa Fe that have banned their use. The plant can be quite beautiful in bloom.
