Learning that Japan is the capitol of Akuma and there is almost no humans around was an interesting move from Hoshino, to address that Japan was closed to the outside world for periods of time.

Then Allen deciding that he is fueled by his urge to fight Akuma but then also discovering there is more than just that is great to see. But makes it even more tragic to see him losing the very humans he decided to fight for due reasons we learn later on.
