One Year Strong.
In just two weeks, my wife, Dearest, and I will have been married for one year. (That's not her actual name, it's just what i call her. Because she is.) It really only feels like one month. Our wedding was traditional and beautiful, so I'm told. I am also told our reception was really fun and entertaining. I believe it, but the day went by so fast that I feel like I missed most of the festivities. I was there physically, but my mind was in such a whirlwind I don't think I was able to soak in much of what was going on around me. The goblet of jagermeister my cousin kept sufficiently full throughout the night did not help either. However, I was spared a hangover. Although I don't recall the entire affair, the stories my friends and family have entertain me to no end. The planning, the expenses and the long nights of cut-and-paste were well worth it to know our friends and family had a great time.
There are two things I remember distinctly from that day. One, was when I finally got to see Dearest in her gown. I'll never forget watching her walk down the aisle. Secondly, I remember her voice singing at the reception. Dearest surprised me with a cute song (Kina Grannis - Together) with the help of my cousin (@thepizzafactory) on guitar. I definitely cried on the inside.
Four months ago, Dearest and I found out that we are pregnant. This new, exciting news has prompted me to keep tabs on the weekly happenings during the pregnancy. I should've started this four months ago, but I couldn't come up with a name for the blog. I decided on "Dearest Adventures" because I want to focus on her experience and feelings. So far, she's been doing very well. No morning sickness. She's been very responsible with her meals, researching what is good for the baby and what is unnecessary.
This morning, we had our 18th week visit to the doctor for a check up. Doc says the baby and Dearest are fine and healthy. I almost tear-up everytime I hear the baby's heartbeat.
Its been a crazy life and perspective changing 18 weeks. Between having a baby and looking for a house, we've been pretty occupied, but I am excited for what the future holds. Stay tuned for more details and developments. I may veer off on tangents, but I promise to keep it interesting.
