Hi so its been a while i've just been very busy. But I wanted to give an update to document my development i've been continuing my hand precision exercises and have learnt a lot about estimating angles, muscle memory, and eye training as i've been doing so i've been trying to build my confidence in art by doing basic art pieces for my friends. I did one for my therapist Sam when it was her birthday and now one for my pal @dreamersplush49 they're pretty basic but it's mostly just for me to get out of my comfort zone and work on the relationship of color and lighting. I've been learning a lot!! hopefully I can experiment a bit more as I grow more comfortable with all this. I'm hoping with me applying for artfight finally I can see more progress until then gamers!!

with the rise of boycotting many companies that support Israel's genocide I wanna remind people to not force yourself into cutting off ties with a company if its something you rely on for comfort and such. I myself use spotify to help calm me down and to stimulate my brain so boycotting it is much more difficult for me as not only do I use it to help keep my brain active but I use it for sleep since I struggle with nightmares. You're not going to be a bad person for failing to remove any contact with these companies especially if its something you rely on for support (this includes entertainment) Also please don't expect yourself to sever ties to every single company. There are many companies that perhaps don't have alternatives or that other require for money. Focus on the companies that are in the BDS movement

As long as you are speaking up for the Palestinian people standing for and with them and boycotting companies you are certain you don't need you are already doing enough. Save your energy for the fights that need to be fought.

I hate having OCD I love the horror genre but I can't indulge too much into it because I may experience obsessive thinking about some horror elements being real causing me serious distress I love SCP foundation, but there are lots of them I can't read due to obsessive thinking making me believe in "hazards" whatever they call it. I just wanna read about cool monsters :( I hate this

For all my demigender fellows:

if you are a demiboy and were assigned boy at birth you are still valid If you are a demigirl and were assigned girl at birth you are still valid If you are trans and experience little to no dysphoria you are still valid I am trans and a demigirl. I was assigned female at birth but whenever I looked at myself in the mirror I felt a heavy dissociation with myself. I hated people referring to me as a "woman" and I despised putting makeup especially lipstick and mascara. "girl" fit a bit better but I regularly avoided looking at myself in the mirror because I was constantly put off by myself. I'd put it off as just self deprecation but these feelings would become stronger. I struggled heavily with identity because my vision of myself did not align with what I was in that moment. For me personally I did feel some very light feminine aspects but not enough for me to fully identify as a ciswoman. Once I began to learn about the nonbinary community and demigirl I began to feel more relieved. I've become more comfortable with looking at myself because now I know what I want from myself and who I want to be. The pronouns i've been using bring me euphoria because it aligns with how I see myself. For the first time i'm finally discovering myself and I couldn't be happier.

being trans is about becoming the version of you that you want to be. No one's journey should be minimized for what they aspire to become. We should all do our best to respect each other and give love as we would want.

Just had to fix my link to my art blog because I forgot that if you change your username linking the original name leads to a non existent blog- its @chicken-scratching

mind you uh- there's not much and probably won't be much in some time- because of my self esteem issues i'm not yet ready to post something to the public unless I feel it fully achieves the vision creatively to some degree or has a purpose to display my artistic progression

Chookily's Guide to complimenting art

Introduction

While it is a kind gesture to extend positive input to an artist I would never want anyone to turn positive input into a job. For the most part it's supposed to be fun!!! We should all learn to try not to take it personally if no one compliments our art every now and then there are various reasons why people may not compliment! They could be occupied, they may not know what to say, or it's simply not their personal taste. Remember for the majority it can be challenging to say something beyond "this looks cool!" and some people may even feel self conscious of what to them seems like a lowsy compliment. What's important is to learn to be confident of our own art. As an independent artist I face this dilemma multiple times and i've learnt how to reassure myself and be confident of my own abilities. Don't rely on others solely for positive reinforcement as you're only setting yourself for failure. This is also just a general reminder that you don't need to go to into full detail about artwork. Sometimes giving your general support through a reaction or just saying "This looks cool!" is enough and you should never be afraid to voice your support

Why is it important to compliment art? Other than the rudimentary and obvious reason there is a genuine skill you can train and apply in your own artwork when you compliment artwork. By complimenting artwork you are training yourself to discern and separate specific aspects of a art piece in order to determine the strengths of an artist. THEREFORE you are using critical thinking skills that help with eye training improved vocabulary and a better general grasp of art. (Plus you make the person feel very happy :>>>>) The Basics Don't focus on the bigger picture!

When it comes to analyzing artwork the least thing you want to do is focus too much on the grand scheme of the photo. Unless you're complimenting the certain atmosphere setting how convincing it is and other technical artistic merits it's best to focus on smaller things. Look at the linework look at the color palette or the brushworks or the effects what do you appreciate most about the art piece what do you find most unique and noteable? Once you point these out it can be very easy to give a compliment! Study technical artwork terms and techniques! The best way to learn to compliment art is to immerse yourself and absorb information. Learn the basic terminologies and techniques for art do your homework! Make the criticism personally catered to the artist! What patterns have you noticed in the artist's work? Try to point out the artist's best abilities and their strengths! Let them know what they are best at!! Focus on the mood/atmosphere of the artpiece what emotion does a certain art piece evoke? what does it make you think or feel? Art is a creative exchange of ideas and stories and in doing so you feed that creative energy!

Ask questions about the art piece

Engage yourself with the art piece to familiarize yourself it makes the artist feel special!
