Foreman snapped back into reality with a start, very weakly returning to composure. “What, House?”
“Can you stop making kissy faces at doctor pretty and do your job?”
Foreman stared at House, affronted, stuttering around an excuse “I- I wasn’t looking at him- I- you know what? I don’t have to explain myself to you.”
“Yeah, yeah, gay awakening at age thirty. We’ve all been through it.”
“I don’t have time to unpack that.”
“Good. Diagnose.”
“Uh… lupus.” Foreman mumbled, unfocused. He had been catching himself stealing glances at the younger doctor all day. Chase had thrown a sulk and gone to the paediatrics unit for the day, and a group of young girls had dressed his hair in a number of decorations - flowers, sparkles, whatever you can name was probably decorating the man’s blonde hair, seemingly highlighting it. Chase had a sort of gentle glow about him that was usually instead charged up with annoyance or barely repressed anger.
“Rapunzel,” house gestured to his hair “your Eugene is staring.”
Chase just scoffed at the remark “you’re just mad I look better than you.”
“Why haven’t you taken them off?” Foreman’s eyes stayed trained. It wasn’t meant to be a judgemental question but it undoubtedly sounded like one, as he realised when Chase’s eyebrows furrowed deeply.
“I just have, okay? Can you relax?” Chase put a defensive hand hovering over his head.
“I wasn’t complaining.”
“..oh.” Chase looked taken aback. He looked down as his cheeks dusted pink. Right on cue, house scoffed. “I’ve walked into an alternate dimension. Shouldn’t you be punching each other’s lights out by now?”
Chase just groaned, pushing out of the door.
Foreman followed him out of the door, uncharacteristically nervous and failing to hide it with an authoritative tone. “Chase. Hey. Wait a minute.”
“What, foreman? Come to clear things up? I know you aren’t in to me, can we just ignore him?”
“No. I was going to invite you out for a drink. Tonight. I’ll pick you up.”
“Oh.” Chase blinked, registering the comment. “Yeah, okay.”

The ride to the bar was tense, both attempting to speak and tapering off quickly. Foreman opened the door for chase, who awkwardly mumbled a ‘thank you’
The atmosphere stayed this way up until Chase had slammed down his first drink. “Hey, what was up with you today?”
“Ugh..” the man groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Honestly?”
“Duh.”
Foreman took one last look at the doctor in-front of him. He was dressed up, but not much. More than he did for the girls he would take out, foreman noted happily. He’d kept a flower in his hair, and was sporting a turtleneck to fit the chilly weather. The dark of it made his dirty blonde stand out even further. He looked beautiful. Foreman didn’t consider himself a romantic by any means, but he couldn’t catch his breath at the site of the man. The gentle pink on his cheeks, either from the cold of the air outside or the utter ridiculousness of the situation at hand, decorated his face perfectly.
“Uhhh.” Foreman sighed, relenting. “The flowers.”
“Hm?” Chase acted dumb but a smile was beginning to play on his lips.
“You just-“ he grumbled under his breath. “You looked.. Uhm.. soft?”
“Soft??”
He rolled his eyes and replied through gritted teeth “pretty.”
Chase basically giggled and foreman’s breath forced its way out from his chest.
“I thought you thought I looked like a wanker.”
“That, too.”
Chase pushed foreman’s arm playfully, now pleasantly buzzed.
“Hey, why’d you keep them in, anyway?”
“They reminded me of my sister when she was young. And they don’t have long left, I just didn’t have the heart to.. get rid of it. Most of them had fallen out but..”
“I didn’t know you have a sister?”
Chase waved the conversation away “for another time.”
Foreman’s eyebrows turned up in sympathy, but quickly levelled his face.
As the night went on they were ushered out, more than slightly drunk, by the staff as the bar shut for the night. Chase was stupid enough to not bring a jacket, so foreman wordlessly draped his over the man’s shoulders as they crossed the walk to the car. Chase grinned, lopsided and loose, up at foreman’s eyes. He didn’t bother trying to hide his disappointment as they reached the car.
“Thank you for-“ foreman began, but was cut off by Chase leaning forwards into the doctor’s personal space.
“I have beer at my place?” But he said the words slow and gentle, looking hopefully into foreman’s eyes.
“Beer sounds good.”

Chase had cracked open a beer for foreman, handing it to him with slow, intentional movements, hand brushing across his arm. Foreman cleared his throat nervously in response.
“Well? Aren’t you going to drink it?”
“I don’t want to take my eyes off of you for a second.”
Chase’s face went beet red in a second and he stilled as the man walked towards him, placing the beer on the counter and using his now free hand to cup chase’s cheek.
“Really?”
Foreman just smiled, leaning in to kiss the Aussie, who immediately responded with enthusiasm. The kiss started off slow and gentle, enjoying their time together, but quickly grew heated. Chase began attacking the buttons of Foreman’s shirt and the man responded by leading them into Chase’s bedroom.
“Why,” another kiss. “Why haven’t we done this before?” Chase questioned breathlessly.
“You need to wear flowers in your hair more often.”
“I’ll be sure to do so.” Chase giggled, falling onto the bed.
