This shirt that I am wearing in this photo has quickly grown to be one of my favorites. It is the show shirt from last year’s production of Les Miserables (also known as Los Miserables), the first Central American production of the show. What you do not see in this photo is that I am twinning with one of the cast members. I may or may not have specifically changed into this shirt when I saw that someone was wearing this shirt (okay, I totally did - any excuse to wear this shirt).
Milkshakes:
a.k.a. God’s gift to the world
I got to start choreographing Tevye’s dream today. I was very excited about this song going in because I knew it would be my only opportunity to really choreograph without the confines of the traditional Jewish dance. I went super weird with it. Luckily, the kids were very good sports about dancing outside of their comfort zones.
I also got to start working on Jerome Robbins’ famous bottle dance. After much contemplation, I used my artistic license to decide to use the original choreography for this dance. The steps are too perfect not to use (in fact, I would consider myself a fool to NOT use them). Fortunately, we had just gotten the knee pads in (it felt like Christmas morning opening that box up) so the llast kneeling section only bruised egos. I was able to dance the second half of the dance balancing a water bottle on my head with little difficulty, but we’ll have to see how it works with wine bottles and hats.
Between all of this dancing, I went out with other staff and cast members to the cheese factory down the road for ice cream. I was (almost) able to successfully order 2/3 chocolate 1/3 caramel milkshake. For some reason, all of the people I know here will not let me pay for things. I’m not complaining, but I don’t want the financial burden to be solely resting on their shoulders. I didn’t have to pay for my milkshake - or my dinner. And that was only one day of free giveaways. On a side note: my right hand now looks like a war zone. In the past 24 hours I have cut my hand on the plastic casing for knee pads, a wire fence, an apartment, and on a cat’s tooth. I’m okay, just thought I would share with you.
one of my proudest choreographies just because i did a song that i love and i didn't give a shit about whether anyone else liked it or not. i loved it and that's all that mattered.
