Believe it or not, I know he won't.
But certainly not because of the Oscars.
He won't do it because he never has, despite the numerous opportunities he's been given in the two and a half years since Armie's case was resolved.
He won't do it because he considers being in a relationship with Armie an obstacle to becoming "a great."
He won't do it because there will always be new projects, a new role, an award to win, or a lie to tell the public.
He won't do it because he lacks the courage to shatter the image he's been striving to project for the past three years and face the consequences.
He won’t do it because he is afraid to admit that he is no longer the authentic and sincere man he once was.
But despite everything, even though I'm sad and disappointed, I love him and I still have hope.
Hope that he'll acknowledge having worked with an actor named Armie Hammer.
Hope that he'll remember his own words, spoken long ago, when he said there would never have been Elio without Oliver, nor Timothée without Armie.
Hope that he'll recognize that Armie is worth fighting for.
So yes, I would like him to say Armie's name.
Because it's fair and legitimate.
And make no mistake, not doing so won't be interpreted as a desire to protect his love for Armie. We're the only ones who think that, and a large majority of his current fans know practically nothing about his relationship with Armie and Cmbyn. This will simply confirm to the haters that he is an opportunist who used Armie as a stepping stone to fame, and that now he has no public utility and it is better to forget him and the memories that go with him.
As for Armie, how can we not imagine the pang of heartache he'll feel next Saturday ? How can we believe he accepts being a dirty secret while one person hogs all the spotlight ? How can we accept that his name isn't even mentioned when he's given Timothée so many opportunities, repeatedly, on his podcast, and Timothée hasn't taken a single one ?
How can one not feel sad for him?
I also see that there will be no one emotionally close to Timothée at the screening of CMBYN. Perhaps it's a coincidence and no one was available ? We all know that in their world there are no coincidences… How to interpret the fact that neither Luca, nor Michael, nor any of his former close friends in the industry are present in Los Angeles ? Nobody ? For Timmy ? Wow…
