I watched the entire series of Red Band Society in the past four days. It was wonderful, but watching Emma’s story hit too close to home. Almost everything she said about her disorder, how she felt about needing someone to see how badly she wanted help, it hit me right in the heart. I don’t think it is going to help me get the help that I need to survive, per say, but I am going to try to stop believing that everyone is going to feel pity or shame on my behalf.
Luckily, Leo treated her right, despite Emma’s eating disorder. I am going to dwell on that, and on the bright disposition of Brittany’s view on Emma as a person. Those two stances will be the theoretical support I might need to convince myself to tell my friend. I feel for Emma in a way that hurts my heart. The damage done in the place of loneliness or perfectionism doesn’t need to be what it is. But for me, it is a reality.
