Super Collider was entirely a self-inflicted disaster for Megadeth, a bad-faith effort by Dave Mustaine to chase a radio market that no longer existed that wasted the talents of Chris Broderick and Shawn Drover and ultimately drove both away from the band. “Burn!” was actually one of the heavier tracks, with a bit of an early ‘90s soundtrack feel along the lines of “Angry Again”, but the chorus was lame and offered an early sign that Mustaine was losing his range (such as it was). But the soloing was great as always, and even if Johnny K’s production was sterile, the same could be said about every Megadeth album over the last 20 years. Again, “Burn!” was a mostly good track hampered by unforced errors.
