“I’m fine,” Chris smiled but than pressed his lips together when he realized his teeth were likely stained bloody too. He got to his feet with a grunt, trying to hide the wince. Fuck. And he thought he had been doing so well too, it had been several months since he had pissed off someone enough for them to actually start swinging. Chris had a high pain tolerance but that didn’t mean getting jumped by three guys didn’t hurt. He sighed, fixing his clothing and trying to give her his signature carefree smirk (he had feeling he didn’t quite pull it off, his jaw was throbbing too much), “I’m fine Doll. Don’t worry about me.”
Lies. All lies. He was not fine, he was pretty sure at least one rib was fractured, and his shoulder was likely dislocated. It felt dislocated. Still, what was the use of telling Diana? He doubted she cared, oh she would certainly put the act of caring he was sure, Chris was sure she cared as much as the next person, or some random person on the street but he doubted she would personally care. A wave of exhaustion suddenly passed over him and it took everything in him to not sag under the weight of it. “A few days of rest and I’ll be right as rain again.”
