James Hiller is a young apprentice journalist working for the famous Benjamin Franklin’s print shop in Boston, and he is living his dream with more stories than he can write as the American Revolution draws closer every day.
Sarah Phillips arrives from her native England to Boston on the night of the Boston Tea Party, resulting in her initial disdain for America and its patriots.
Both hotheaded and argumentative, James and Sarah find themselves at odds from the moment they meet in a ship’s cabin, and their rivalry continues as they sort out what exactly they believe about freedom, justice, and loyalty. As James follows the growing tension in the colonies and Sarah anxiously awaits news of her missing father, their allegiances are tested with danger at every turn, and they learn to rely on one another regardless of their different opinions. With the world turned upside-down around them, James and Sarah discover that their constant conflict may be an excuse for feelings that go deeper and will last longer than the war between patriots and loyalists.
