Welcome To The Library

In the vast stone library you wander. The fierce Gielsing sits, moping, at his spot near the entrance. He does not move, has not moved, since the librarian went away. It seems a new depth has come to his moping as of late. As you enter the gallery, you discover why. The last new photo is dated August 31, 2016. In the nest display is a scrawled note:

“I apologize for the absence! My relocation took on a new urgency that’s left psychic and magical resonance weak. We will have them reestablished by October. 

Yours, Chris The Librarian”

Welcome to the Library

The dragon rouses from his nap near the entrance, shaking out his shoulders as he turns his wide, glittering eyes to you. His head rises above the stacks surrounding him, his chest catching the torchlight from the doorway. 

“If you require help finding a book, please ask one of us.” He addresses you. His voice is full of crackling flames, the heat of a sun. “We are renovating some sections and some rooms and services may be unavailable at this time. You are most welcome to browse the rest of the stacks, enjoy our writing areas, or whatever else is available at the moment.”

With this, the dragon turns and curls up once more, leaving you to stare at his tail. The library is now yours to roam.

Welcome To Our Library

You enter the doorway carved from the mountain, make your way up the wide and winding stairway, the passage growing darker and darker. The echo of crackling fire makes it’s way to you, promising light soon.

Rounding the corner you see the promised glow, the echoes replaced by the thick snap of flame. Bookshelves rise high above you. Between them, scattered about, stacks rival the shelves for height. The scent of old and new books mingle in the air, filling it with the rich texture of knowledge.

A blast of hot air blows from your left and you stumble, looking around and meeting the nostril of a red, sleeping dragon. Your chest constricts. You knew you might meet the dragon, but you still remembered all the stories you were told in the village.

“I’ll be with you in a moment! Look around as much as you want!” A voice calls through the stacks and you turn to see who spoke. You turned back to an eye level with your head.

“Welcome to my library.”

A Beginning

A Dragon’s Library will officially launch May 1, 2016. 

Welcome to A Dragon’s Library. My name is Chris, and I am a writer who is passionate about my craft; Reading and writing fill my life with meaning. Gielsing, my partner, is a small dragon who loves knowledge. This blog is a way to share our passions while I improve my writing.

We hope to focus mostly on lesser known or unusual books, but I do read a wide variety and will be posting about any books I feel strongly enough about. These posts will include reviews, quotes, and series diaries.

My current goals are pretty simple for this blog. Right now I just want to get it started, find my own way, and see what works. Right now that means book reviews, book porn, writing prompts, the book photo challenge (posted by Books & Cupcakes), series diaries, and possibly some story links.

The future holds a lot more in store if this blog gets any sort of following. I have many projects and ideas depending on how active followers end up being. Any questions and messages are welcome!

Painted Cave is an online literary magazine released biannually that accepts work from community college students. I highly recommend submitting any and all work in.
