Okay, this got wordy and personal. I'll put a read more, so you don't have to read it.
Huh... I still fanperson out whenever someone I admire in any of the fields I enjoy message me. My recent Chris Haley and Rosalarian episodes just push that forward in my mind even more.
So you think, in like ten years, if and when people are reading Alchemy Comics on tablets, computers, in analog book form, etc, when people have more gaming supplements with my name on the cover (well... more than what already exists), when people have played video games I've worked on, etc... that I'll still freak out if I'm said "hi" too by, say, Gail Simone or Rich Burlew?
I dunno. I mean, meeting Stan Lee is one thing - if you meet Stan, he's like... the Main Man of Marvel! But all these other people... they are super talented, and while other kids in high school and other people in college were all "I'm going to be a musician like Michael Jackson!" or "I'm going to play football like..." um... damn, I don't know real sports I only know Blood Bowl. So... I guess people want to be coached by Tomolandry the Undying?
Still, I was reading things like Blue Beetle and Discworld and The Legend of Drizzt and Birds of Prey. Now I read more webstuff. And all I can think is... when I do it, if I do it, what will be harder to accept? That some people will eventually put me on a pedestal too? Or that once I'm up there, I may be on the same level as some of those people I put up on their own pedestals?
