“A midnight picnic?”
Fabian was standing nervously at Chrissy’s front door. He’d been so sure that he’d planned it right, that he’d got it all perfect. He wasn’t asking her on a school night — it was a Friday night, tomorrow was the weekend. He made sure it wasn’t a new moon — it was a crescent moon and there were plenty of stars out, so many that he could pick out the constellations. And he’d planned the perfect spot — out of the way so that people wouldn’t stumble across them, but not so far from civilisation that he would seem like he was leading her to her death—
“Stop overthinking.”
His brain stuttered to a stop.
Chrissy smiled softly, placing a gentle hand on his, which was holding the picnic basket. “The idea sounds perfect.” She leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his cheek, smiling as it heated to pink under her lips. “Let me wear something more comfortable, and I’ll be right out.”
