i've decided that it's time for an update!! a lot of things have changed in the past two? three? years, so it's only fair for me to update this thing so that you guys know what's actually going on here now 😅

(same aesthetic though i'm still the same dorky nerd lmao)

my name is aj (she/her pronouns pls)!! i’m 28, black, and i live in the uk. i graduated from uni back in 2020 (covid student rip) and currently work as a lab assistant, hoping to make my way up to lab scientist, but i’ve been doing creative writing for 10+ years!! i’m trying to maintain my reading habits by reading about 2 books a month (which you can see on my fable - follow me there if you want!!) and getting back into writing regularly by doing regular writing prompts based on fun facts (which i share on tiktok!!). overall, i write a variety of fanfiction and original works (both based off my own characters and those i currently/have rp’d with in the past). i'm not taking requests atm, as i'm trying to get back into the swing of things and hope to possibly pick up some of my old projects this year!! but in general i love being asked questions about what i'm reading, my WIPs and my characters and basically any characters i write, because i love delving into character thoughts and doing character development (so please send me some!!).

this blog started off as a way for me to share my fanfiction writing, which is how i got into writing in the first place and how i came to love it, but now i’m wanting to expand some more share/talk about some of my original works too!! i write ya sci-fi in my original stuff, but i’m known to drift into romance, action-comedy and crime when it comes to fanfiction works. i’m also over on ao3 as andipxndy.

my main fanfic writing fandoms are percy jackson (the whole shebang from pjo all the way to toa) and alex rider, but i also enjoy watching ncis, and criminal minds, recently started watching star trek (all the way from the original series!!), have recently calmed down a little on my obsession with heated rivalry, and sometimes dive back into old favourite animes (inazuma eleven will always have my heart). i may be slow to write or respond to stuff but i DO enjoy diving into discussing fandom stuff too!! i also like playing video games like sims 4 (ea is a money grab pass it on) and cities skylines, and enjoy dnd and rping with friends!!

before this intro gets too long, here are my main WIPs, some of which i hope to get back into this year:

365 prompts: a prompt a day challenge (will always be a bit behind on it but that's just me atm)

a challenge i've set myself in an attempt to get back into writing, where i take the fun facts i read in a "fact a day" book i bought late last year, turn each fact into a prompt, and write in response to that prompt for either a fandom or an original

more wips (the ones i haven't touched for a while):

power play (1st draft completed, left to stew)

the first original wip i planned, the story is intended to be part of a 5-book series about a 20-year-old who accidentally gives himself powers, and ends up drawn into the science underground whilst trying to save people that he may or may not have also accidentally given powers. and all whilst trying to appear completely normal to his mum and get a summer job whilst home from university.

the crossover (still working on 1st draft, is my main/november nano project)

this is an adaptation of an old rp au i had with one of my closest friends, adjusted to have new, original characters despite the same plotline. it follows a 17-year-old girl as she’s accidentally transported into a parallel universe, where her parents aren’t her parents and she doesn’t exist. in an attempt to get home, she ends up crossing paths with the people who are meant to be her family, and finds out that they’re all superheroes. insert drama and shenanigans here.

fanfiction fics and requests (ongoing but this is technically a wip)

technically counts as a wip as i have a backlog of fics in progress to write and share for requesters (and some ideas i’ve had myself), but these are mainly either alex rider or abbott elementary fanfics that have been sent in via ask. you can see extra info below the cut after the next paragraph. my requests are currently closed, and i’m working through my backlog. the request(s) active for the forseeable future are:

anyway, this is all i’ve got for now!! i'm basically focusing on getting my writing back up to scratch, so i won't really be taking part in many other challenges this year, if any?? but you never know. it's the beginning of the year, there's still time!! other than that, that’s about it!! i’ll be sharing snippets of my work, and i regularly share links to my fics!! if you’ve read this far, i applaud you, but thank you so much for reading!! i’d love to get to know more writers on here, both inside and outside of fandom spaces, so please feel free to jump at me and send me asks and messages and stuff!!

please try not to give me word count limits or specifications on fics - they are discouraging

that being said, any writing requests/prompts fulfilled will most likely be 20k words or less (though they may be longer if the inspiration strikes, don’t hold me to it)

i do not write smut requests, or any nsfw other than possibly gore/torture/violence. this is a personal preference and i will not change my stance on it

Climbing.

Alex had wanted to go… climbing.

And not any sort of easy, indoor rock climbing. No, he wanted to go climbing up the side of a mountain, with gear and equipment and supplies so that if they ended up having to sleep on the side of said mountain partway through their climb, they could camp.

Tom thought it was a bit of a reckless idea, really, knowing his penchant for getting into trouble and having to think of a way out — if he was being completely honest, he had heard one too many horror stories about Alex’s misadventures from Jack, like him accidentally stumbling across something like an international drug smuggling ring or a bunch of career-muggers who pretended they were just homeless guys. Tom didn’t want that.

Shane didn’t know what to expect from camping with his high school hockey team. Would they be loud? Would they be messy? Was he going to regret the whole trip, or end up in stitches? (He knew the former was more likely, but he never knew for sure when Hayden and Ilya were at each other’s throats, and that was a certainty on any sort of trip where they were stuck within throwing distance of each other for an extended period of time.) Either way, that was something he was going to find out over the next few days, and he still wasn’t sure whether he was looking forward to it or not.

The first day, admittedly, wasn’t so bad. Their arrival was smooth, easy, even though they’d spent a couple of hours in a minivan that made even Shane feel claustrophobic. With all of their stuff in a car that followed after them, so really it should have given them all enough space to stretch out a little and relax, right?

Wrong. So very wrong.

Because Shane ended up squished between Ilya and Hayden, and whilst he didn’t mind sitting next to Hayden, he felt as though he was fighting for his life sat next to Ilya.

Shane was leaning over the back of the loveseat on the back porch, his arms around Ilya’s shoulders as he rested his chin on his husband’s traps, hugging him gently. It was an early summer evening and, as per their usual custom, they’d had a small barbecue for dinner, just between the two of them, and stuffed their faces with a main that Shane grilled (burgers, again, because they were a safe food) before eating a dessert that Ilya had found the recipe for on the internet (Shane hadn’t thought that he would like banoffee pie, but it was actually pretty good; Ilya promised to find the recipe for a ginger cake next time, and the rest of the pie would end up either with Shane’s parents or with Hayden the next day, whoever they saw first).

It was routine, it was comforting. It was how home was meant to be, and Shane relished in it. He did. And from the look in Ilya’s eye, which Shane saw when Ilya thought he wasn’t looking, he relished in it too. It was the life he’d always wanted, and it was the life Shane knew he deserved.

“Alright, everyone, are we ready to go?” It was Louis’ turn to drop the kids off at school, with Mauro having to go in earlier than usual to meet up with some of his third year students, meaning that he had the minivan whilst Mauro took his bike in for the day. Which, honestly, Louis didn’t mind — it meant that he could make sure all the kids got into school on time, and also meant that he had an excuse to be late… not that he wanted to be late.

That day also happened to be non-uniform day at school, the high school, meaning that the kids weren’t in uniform that day. Which, of course, meant that it took longer than necessary to get them ready, since they were all picking out their clothes and each of them wanted to wear something… different for the day. Honestly, Louis considered himself lucky that it was only the older three that were in the high school, and so only them that were taking part in this whole non-uniform thing.

Unfortunately, teachers were also required to partake in the whole non-uniform thing.

Omg hi!! Thank you so much for the ask, i'm glad you're enjoying them!! To be completely honest, I'm part of the cohort who fell off when Ziva left, and since then the show has been more of a background watch than anything. I very much love Ellie and Nick and I definitely do want to write something for them, but i need to do a proper deep watch of everything from season 12 onwards if I'm being completely honest, just to get a proper vibe of their dynamic. (Which i will probably end up doing anyway, because it'll help with some of my other NCIS fics anyway, because i really love Ellie 💖)
