Fuel for Bad Dreams
When I was young, I really considered becoming a priest or pastor. In the end, it certainly wasn't for me. The abject hypocrisy and belief that only humans had souls, and therefore only they would be allowed into heaven sent me packing pretty quick. Man, if my cat or dog wasn't in heaven I didn't want to be there.
With that aside, I have some terrible news for modern day Christians. In 100 years there will be a church dedicated to the worship of Donald Trump. We already have lots of "fundamentalist" churches preaching that he is the new King Cyrus or worse that Trump is the new Messiah.
Our country is so fond of creating cults and new religions for one reason or another that I can absolutely guarantee that we will have a church somewhere in this country that sings the praises of Trump long after he dies. They will accredit him with all sorts of miracles and good deeds. However, they will be especially fond of stories about his wrath against his enemies.
Now, here is the nightmare part. Where will this new religion be in 500 years? Maybe 1000? Are we witnessing the rise of the next major world religion? If Trump gets assassinated, yeah I can see he lives long past his life in the memories of his cultists. Hell, even if he isn't, some freaks are going to be worshipping him anyway, just as the modern day Nazi's still worship Hitler.
One thing that I don’t think I’ve ever seen being discussed is how “cancelling” and online callouts mimic christian morality, in the sense of there’s no big or small sin, every one must be punished the same way. Like a person that scammed their fans isn’t the same as someone who cheated on their partner, they’re both shit but there’s a difference there I think???
Question for lovely the orthodox christians that lurk on this website...
How are you today?
How would you say the term "Heavenly Shepherd" in Egyptian? Would it be mnjw pt, or is my grammar wrong?
mni.w p.t, assuming the correct glyphs, would literally be “herdsman (of) heaven”, so while that functions, it’s not completely what you want. In order to make the word “heavenly”, you’d have to use a nisbe-construction. A nisbe, in Middle Egyptian grammar, is a construction where a noun is combined with a nisbe-suffix to form an adjective. E.g. the noun ‘sx.t’ means ‘field’, the nisbe ‘sx.ty’ means ‘peasant’ (lit. ‘one who is of the field’).
What you want, then, is mni.w-xnt.y-p.t, where ‘xnt.y’ is the nisbe (glyphs below). This means “herdsman-foremost-of-heaven”, and less literally but more modern-appropriate, “heavenly shepherd”.
As a Christian I shan’t comment on the oddness of seeing one of God’s denominations written in Middle Egyptian!

Kay, so I'm like 89.9% sure that the church that my parents take my brothers and I to is a cult
