me waiting for a new fic from my fave fandom:

Rewatching Lovecraft Country, I'm realizing out of all the edits comparing Loustat with random queerbait and yt gays... Their actual parallel, especially when it comes to the abuse and racialized issues, are Ruby and Christina.
Ruby x Christina Halloween Spectacular!
Hey y'all!
It's been a long time in the RubyxChristina fandom. A whole year (or more) in fact since the last time we've had new 'official' Chrisby content, and while the fandom has definitely died down, there is still plenty more story to tell of our two favorite magic slinging girlfriends. As Halloween approaches, I thought to myself, what better time than to gather up some interested folks and create something? I know there isn't much time (only 12 days in fact), but if you're so inclined join us and lets make some art for our ladies! You can message me here for prompts or create your own, and make sure to tag #rubtinahalloween when you post. And don't forget to spread the word!
I'll be posting a story starting tomorrow all the way up until Halloween here and one AO3, follow the tag for some spooky Halloween fun!
Shoutout to @agentsheryl and @bifactional-disaster for helping me organize and being super hype! Hope to see some content incoming.

Christina x Ruby
Lovecraft Country
1x10
I honestly don't think i can adequately describe my disappointment in the writers of Lovecraft Country. The colorism was appalling. The lack of protection for dark skinned black women (both Ruby and Diana) in this show irks the absolute fuck out of me. Im actually hurt and disgusted by the lack of love and protection for them. Leti had people constantly coming to her rescue/aid. People cared what happened to her. Felt like no one really cared about Ruby. She had to do all of her heavy lifting on her own. Even making deals and working with " the devil" Regardless of my shipping Ruby and Christina, she, Christina, was still extremely powerful and dangerous and Leti put her in direct danger. Like where the fuck was her backup when she went for the vile? Why wasn't anyone there with her/for her? Leti is so selfish and thats ok. Im not one to think black characters should be perfect. Nah, give me them flaws. But Ruby was absolutely right when she told Leti they were only family when Leti needed something. It's something that has been proven throughout the whole season. Even with William/Christina. Where was her protection spell? There were never any guarantees for her safety love and protection. They only seemed to care as long as she was on their side. Having Ruby die in some dank basement off screen by her lover was some straight up trash writing. We deserved to have that betrayal seen by everyone. Ruby deserved so much better. Ruby deserved to live.
Now about Diana. We all witnessed her lack of love and protection in episode 8. And while I thought it was cool that Tic gave her his shoggoth, she was still left alone. And to have her coldly kill Christina was so fucking disheartening. Like why would the writers do this. Little black kids are always looked at as older than they are and y'all are just going to have her murder someone. We already have to fight so hard for our kids, black kids, to get to be kids and not be treated like adults at such a young age. Also she has like zero ties to Christina so why was she the one to kill her? If anybody was going to kill Christina it should have been Ruby. Her first time feeling that kind of betrayal. Coming full circle.
Anyway I do hope there is a season 2. I hope the writers realize the power they have when depicting dark skinned women. Particularly dark skinned full figured women being fierce and soft and deserving. They can be more than something to push the story along for the light skinned lead.
Apologies for any misspellings and lack of proper punctuation I'm still pissed
